The 2023/24 A-League season is fast approaching and excitement will start to build now that the full fixture list has been announced.
It is set to be another exciting campaign as the Central Coast Mariners look to build on last season’s Grand Final success.
Melbourne City will be out for revenge after losing the 2022/23 big dance, while there are a number of other clubs who will have their eye on the big prize.
They include Western Sydney Wanderers and Adelaide United.
It will be the 47th season of the men’s national football competition, and the 19th since it became established as the A-League in 2004.
12 teams will begin the A-League campaign for the final time, as the competition is set to expand to 14 teams for the start of the 2023/24 campaign.
The 12 teams involved this season are Adelaide United, Brisbane Roar, Central Coast Mariners, Macarthur FC, Melbourne City, Melbourne Victory, Newcastle Jets, Perth Glory, Sydney FC, Wellington Phoenix, Western Sydney Wanderers and Wester United.
The regular season will get underway on 20th October and will see each of the 12 teams play 26 games in total. The final game of the regular season will be played on Sunday 28th April.
After the conclusion of the regular season, the top six teams on the ladder will head into the finals series.
The Grand Final will be played in Sydney on the weekend of 25th/26th May 2024.
The start to any new season is always crucial and the title contenders will be keen to set the tone for the campaign by getting off to a solid start.
Defending champions Central Coast Mariners will get the new season underway with a tricky encounter on Friday 20th October 2023.
They will travel to Coopers Stadium, to take on another title contender, Adelaide United.
There are three games taking place on Saturday 21st October, including defending premiers Melbourne City, who entertain Western United.
Macarthur FC also play Brisbane Roar, while Sydney FC are at home to Melbourne Victory in a clash that is commonly known as the ‘Big Blue’.
Round one is wrapped up on Sunday 22nd October with Western Sydney Wanderers versus Wellington Phoenix and Perth Glory against Newcastle Jets.
Melbourne City are once again the hot fancies at 3.80 to go on and win the 2023/24 A-League Grand Final.
Central Coast Mariners, who upset the form book to beat them in last season’s Grand Final, are priced at 6.00 to go back-to-back.
Western Sydney Wanderers are next in the betting at 7.00, with Adelaide United and Sydney FC both 8.00. Melbourne Victory are priced at 9.00.
At the wrong end of the ladder Perth Glory could be in for another tough season and may do well to avoid the wooden spoon.
They can be backed at 34.00 to pull off a huge upset and win the Grand Final.
