2024 Tour de France Outright Odds: Vingegaard heads the field

The 2024 UCI World Tour season is well underway and it will not be long before the Tour de France becomes the main focus for a number of riders.

There is plenty of racing to be done before then, however, with spring classics such as the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix on the horizon.

The Giro d’Italia is also the first grand tour of the year and in 2024 both Tadej Pogacar and Geraint Thomas will be tackling both that and the Tour.

Jonas Vingegaard is saving himself for the Tour de France, which begins in late June, as he targets a third straight victory and he is looking strong already.

Let’s take a look at how the main contenders are shaping up in the early part of the season.

Jonas Vingegaard @ 1.61

Great Dane Jonas Vingegaard has started the season in blistering fashion and has put down an early marker for further Tour de France success.

The Visma-Lease a Bike rider has just begun his season with a dominant win at the O Gran Camino stage race in north-west Spain.

As in 2023, Vingegaard dominated the race when winning three of the four stages, to show he is in great shape at this early stage in his season.

It bodes very well for the rest of the campaign and it is no surprise that he is priced at 1.61 to win the Tour de France.

Tadej Pogacar @ 3.75

Tadej Pogacar will make his first appearance of the season this weekend as he follows a less traditional route to the Tour de France.

The Slovenian superstar loves to race in the spring classics and will make his 2024 debut at Strade Bianche, a race he won in 2022.

Pogacar will be looking to get his campaign off to a blistering start by taking the win and all eyes will be on him to see what his conditioning is like.

He is priced at 3.75 to win the Tour de France, but it remains to be seen how much the Giro d’Italia will take out of him.

Primoz Roglic @ 6.00

Primoz Roglic is another Tour de France contender who will make his season debut this weekend, but this time at Paris-Nice.

Since making the big move from Visma-Lease a Bike to Bora Hansgrohe, all his focus is on winning the Tour de France and he is priced at 6.00 to do so.

After Paris-Nice, the Slovenian will tackle Tour of the Basque country and the Criterium du Dauphine in the lead-up to the Tour de France.

Remco Evenepoel @ 8.50

Belgian ace Remco Evenepoel is seen as the outsider of the main contenders to win the Tour de France and can be backed at 8.50.

However, the Soudal Quickstep rider started the season in fine form when winning the Volta Algarve in impressive fashion.

Now he turns his attention to Paris-Nice and all eyes will be on him to see how he shapes up against Roglic.
