Tadej Pogacar again showed his dominance by winning Strade Bianchi and will now set his sights on Milan-San Remo.
Although not an official ‘Monument’, Strade Bianchi is as tough as it gets, and Pogacar picked himself up off the ground, quite literally, to take the win.
Now the question being asked is, can anyone stop him in the opening Monument, Milan-San Remo?
The answer is yes. Known as the ‘sprinters classic’ Milan-San Remo is far more open, and is a race that has eluded Pogacar so far.
Meanwhile, another potential winner, Mads Pedersen, has shortened in the betting following a solid start to 2025.
Let’s take a look as the very latest Milan-San Remo outright odds.
Tadej Pogacar - 3.25
Mathieu Van Der Poel - 5.00
Jasper Philipsen - 6.00
Mads Pedersen - 7.00
Filippo Ganna - 11.00
Tom Pidcock - 21.00
Matej Mohoric - 23.00
Just when you thought he could not get any better, Pogacar took his game to another level when winning Strade Bianchi.
It has been suggested that the only thing that can stop Pogacar winning a race is a crash, but even hitting the road and sliding into a ditch, could not stop him in Strade.
The Slovenian picked himself up to chase down Tom Pidcock, before riding off to yet another memorable win.
Pogacar has not suffered any serious injuries from the crash and is good to go for Milan-San Remo.
He is 3.25 to win the race, but as has been said so many times, Milan-San Remo does not suit Pogacar.
Once again, he could struggle to break away, and the race is likely to come down to a sprint finish.
It has been said that Strade Bianchi would have been a different race had Mathieu van der Poel been there.
We will never know, but now the two powerhouses are set to go head-to-head in Milan-San Remo.
Van der Poel has won the race before, coming out on top in 2023, and can do so again in 2025.
He has drifted slightly in the betting, but is still second favourite at 5.00.
Philipsen has made a good start to the 2025 season when finishing third at Omloop, and then backing it up the day after with a win at Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne.
Philipsen out-sprinted Michael Matthews and Pogacar to win Milan-San Remo in 2024, and if everything goes to plan, will be in the mix again.
The sprint sensation is 6.00 to win Milan-San Remo two years running.
Mads Pedersen has climbed in the betting and is now available at 7.00 to win Milan-San Remo.
The Dane has caught the eye at Paris-Nice when winning Stage 6 and is clearly in good tough heading towards Milan-San Remo.
Pedersen will have no issues staying in touch with the leaders as they tackle the Poggio, while he also packs a powerful sprint if it comes down to it.
Pidcock looks a new man since making the switch to his new team Q36.5, and gave Pogacar a run for his money at Strade Bianchi, before having to settle for second.
At 21.00, Pidcock is a big price, and if he can somehow get a gap at the top of the Poggio, he has the descending skills to escape and ride to victory.
