A-League: Fornaroli return key for Victory

Melbourne Victory are in need of three points and a morale boost when they take on Western United FC on Tuesday night.

Victory were once the hot fancy to go on and win the minor premiership, but they have not won in the last six games and are eight points off the top.

They can still be backed at 4.00 but there is plenty of work to be done if they are to catch ladder-leaders Wellington Phoenix, who are priced at 3.00.

Western United are cut adrift at the bottom but did win at the weekend, so their confidence should have been given a boost.

They are still 1.40 to finish bottom of the ladder at the end of the season but are playing for pride and are capable of getting a result.

Victory hope for Bruno return

Melbourne Victory have failed to win in the last six games and five of those have been draws.

They had to settle for a 0-0 draw in the derby clash against Melbourne City at the weekend and have now drawn 10 matches this season.

It means they have won just six games, and the dropped points could prove to be costly come the end of the season.

The return of star striker Bruno Fornaroli will be key for Victory. Their leading goalscorer was forced to sit out the derby clash after undergoing surgery on his hand.

It is hoped he will be fit enough to face Western United, and can be backed at 2.06 to score at anytime and 4.50 to score the first goal of the game.

Four of Victory’s last six games have ended 1-1, while the other two were a goalless draw and a surprise 1-0 home defeat against Macarthur.

All have been low scoring games and under 2.5 goals in the clash against Western, is priced at 2.50. Another 1-1 draw is also available at 8.50.

Western handed big boost

Western United’s confidence should have been handed a boost after they picked up just their third win of the season on Friday night.

They saw off Newcastle Jets 2-0 and will be out to upset Victory.

Noah Botic was on the scoresheet with the second goal and is priced at 4.00 to score at anytime against Victory.

Western also have a good record against Victory and have won each of the last four games against them. Two have been at home, two away from home, so Western can also take heart from that.

James Donachie will be suspended however after being sent off late in the game against the Jets.
