A-League: In-form Western look to sink Reds

Adelaide United and Western United will be playing for pride when they clash at Coopers Stadium on Friday night.

Adelaide started the season with plenty of hope but are set to miss out on finals altogether following a horror season so far.

With just a handful of games remaining in the regular season, they are 17.00 to make the top six and play finals.

Western have also had a season to forget, and although their form has picked up of late, they remain bottom of the A-League ladder.

The gap on Newcastle has been closed to just one point however, and it is the Jets who are 2.25 to finish bottom come the end of the season.

Avoiding the wooden spoon will be the big goal between now and the end of the season.

Reds snap losing streak

Adelaide broke a four-game losing streak when winning 1-0 away at Newcastle Jets in the game before the international break.

Back on home soil they will now be looking for another three points against Western.

Their form at Coopers Stadium has not been great, however, failing to win in the last three games.

The last three points at the venue came on 13th January when they edged a seven-goal thriller 4-3 against Sydney FC.

They did beat Western 3-1 on their own patch back in November with Ben Halloran on the scoresheet on that occasion.

Halloran can be backed at 2.87 to score at anytime on Friday night, or 7.50 to get the first goal of the game.

Four of the last five games between these two sides have been high-scoring and over 2.5 goals in the latest encounter can be backed at 1.36.

Western find form

Western United have left it late to hit a good run of form, and are undefeated in the last four games.

They have picked up a couple of 2-2 draws against Brisbane Roar and Melbourne Victory, while they have also defeated Perth Glory and Western Sydney Wanderers.

Western are capable of picking up big wins away from home and in the corresponding fixture last year they won 1-0 at Coopers Stadium.

The same result on this occasion can be backed at 19.00.

Daniel Penha also remains in good form and is priced at 3.00 to score at anytime or 8.00 to grab the first goal of the game.
