A-League: Macarthur out to stop the rot

Macarthur’s bubble appears to have burst after they slipped to their third defeat on the bounce at the weekend.

The Bulls were unbeaten in the first seven games and were looking the real deal, but a poor run of form has seen them slip down to fifth place on the ladder.

They are now five points off the top and a place in the top six is looking like the best outcome for them unless they find their form again.

Macarthur are priced at 2.10 to make the top six and play finals.

The Jets have been inconsistent when winning three, drawing three and losing four so far.

A place in finals is not beyond them if they can start turning draws into wins, and they can be backed at 4.33 to get there.

Bulls in need of a boost

Macarthur have now lost the last three games on the bounce and just to rub salt in the wounds they have started leaking goals.

They have conceded three in each of the last three games against Wellington Phoenix, Perth Glory and Western Sydney Wanderers.

Not only that, they have scored just three themselves, and are a shadow of the team that started the season so well.

All is not lost however and a good home win against the Jets could get them back on track.

Valere Germain could be the man to help them to victory. He remains the biggest threat in front of goal and is priced at 2.30 to score at anytime on Friday.

There is not usually much to choose between the two teams when they meet and over 2.5 goals in the game can be backed at 1.47, while under is 2.60.

Jets eye back-to-back wins

The Jets picked up their third win of the season when they beat Western United 2-0 at the weekend.

However it was not all good news as leading goal scorer Apostolos Stamatelopoulos was given his marching orders and will miss the Macarthur game.

It will be a big loss, but the Jets do have players who can step in, just like Trent Buhagiar showed against Western.

The striker bagged both goals in the win and he is priced at 8.00 to score the first goal of the game on Friday night.

Newcastle also have a decent record against Macarthur in recent meetings.

They have won three of the last four games against them, and two of those wins have been at Campbelltown Stadium.

Last season they picked up a 1-0 win there, and the same result can be backed at 15.00 on this occasion.
