A-League: Melbourne City pushing for top six

Macarthur will be out to consolidate their place in the top six when they entertain a Melbourne City side looking to jump into it.

City find themselves in an unfamiliar position of seventh on the ladder following a disappointing season so far.

They can still be backed at 8.00 to turn things around and win the grand final, but first of all they have to make sure they play finals.

Macarthur are six points clear of City and will want to keep that gap at the very least as they attempt to lock in a top-six spot.

So there is plenty on the line when the two sides clash at Campbelltown Stadium.

The Bulls are 1.53 to finish in the top six and a win on Friday night would go a long way towards getting them there.

Bulls eye return to winning ways

·         What: Macarthur FC v Melbourne City
·         Where: Campbelltown Sports Stadium, NSW
·         When: 18:45 (AEST) Friday 1st March
·         How to watch: Paramount+
·         Odds: Macarthur FC 2.80, Draw 3.80, Melbourne City 2.20

Macarthur have failed to pick up three points in the last two games and will be keen to get back to winning ways against City.

They were minutes away from beating Newcastle Jets in the last game as they were ahead 2-1, only for the home side to equalise in the last minute.

The game before they lost 2-1 at home to ladder-leaders Wellington Phoenix.

Scoring goals has not been a problem for Macarthur, but conceding them has been. Indeed they have conceded more than any team in the top seven, with their goals conceded tally standing at 33.

The clash between the two sides in November also finished 3-3 so we could be in for more goals again on Friday night.

Both teams to score can be backed at 1.40, while over 2.5 goals in the game can also be backed at 1.44.

Valere Germain remains a big threat for the Bulls, as does Ulises Davila. They both scored against Newcastle and are priced at 2.60 and 2.87 respectively to score at anytime against City.

Top six in danger for City

City have not won in their last four games and time is running out as they look to finish in the top six.

They are four points behind sixth-placed Sydney FC, who they drew 1-1 with last week, and they need to start winning games.

Their last win was back on 25th January at home to Adelaide United.

Scoring goals has been an issue for them this season. They have scored just 29, and quite amazingly, only Western United have scored less this term.

However, while they have Jamie Maclaren on the pitch, they always have a chance of finding the back of the net.

He scored a brace when the two sides met in November and Macarthur will be well aware of his talents in front of goal.

The strike ace can be backed at 4.00 to grab the first goal of the game, and 1.80 to score at anytime.
