A-League: Melbourne Victory eye top spot

There is a bumper day of action in the A-League on Saturday, with high-flying Melbourne Victory and Western Sydney Wanderers both in action.

Victory are looking good for a title push and will be out to maintain their unbeaten start to the campaign when they travel to take on Perth Glory.

They could go top with a positive result in the west and could be the team to beat this season.

The Wanderers are also in the mix and will be looking for another three points against a much-improved Central Coast Mariners side.

The final game on Saturday sees Brisbane Roar up against Sydney FC. Roar are a team on the slide and need to stop the rot against a Sydney side that have won their last two games.

Let’s take a closer look at the action with game-day fast approaching.

Wanderers need consistency

The Wanderers are currently on a streak of win one, lose one and need to find some consistency if they are to mount a title push.

They beat Macarthur 3-1 last weekend and have been strong at CommBank Stadium when losing just one game at the venue this season.

Marcus Antonsson was among the goals against the Bulls and can be backed at 2.50 to score at anytime on Saturday.

The Mariners are a team on the up and are unbeaten in the last five games, winning three of them.

In their last four visits to CommBank they have only been beaten once, so will hold no fear at the venue.

Games between these two sides are usually high-scoring and over 2.5 goals can be backed at 1.53.

Brisbane Roar were on fire until a few weeks ago, but have since lost their head coach and their last three games on the spin.

They will be feeling rock bottom after last weekend’s 8-1 drubbing against Melbourne City, and will have to dig very deep to bounce back.

Sydney FC on the other hand will be looking up after winning their last two, including a 3-1 win over ladder-leaders Wellington Phoenix last weekend.

Fabio Gomes continues to find the back of the net and can be backed at 6.50 to score the first goal of the game.

Sydney FC do not have a great record at Suncorp, however, winning just one and losing three of the last four games.

OddsPerth Glory 4.20, Draw 4.33, Melbourne Victory 1.70

Glory looked to be finding some form when picking up four points from two games, but then slipped to a 4-2 defeat at Central Coast Mariners.

Their two wins this season have both been on home soil, so that could give the home faithful some hope of an upset against Victory.

They will be without Mark Beevers and Aleksandar Susnjar, who were both sent off last weekend, but at least Adam Taggart continues to score goals.

The striker now has six goals for the season and is 3.10 to score at any time. That is still some way off former striker Bruno Fornaroli, who has bagged 13 for Victory so far.

Fornaroli is 2.10 to bag a goal against his former club at anytime.
