A-League: Phoenix look to bounce back

Wellington Phoenix will look to return to winning ways when they travel to take on Adelaide United in the opening game of Matchday 11.

The Nix slipped to defeat against Sydney FC last weekend and now sit joint-top of the ladder, along with Melbourne Victory, who also have 20 points.

Phoenix are priced at 6.50 to win the minor premiership this season, and they could do with bouncing back on Thursday night.

Adelaide United are also in need of a win as they sit in eighth and will be in danger of missing out on finals unless they get their act together.

They can be backed at 1.90 to make it, but there is work to do after winning just one game in the last five.

Reds still on the slide

Adelaide United continue to struggle this season following another 2-0 defeat against Melbourne Victory last weekend.

After making a solid start to the campaign, they have lost four games out of the last five, and do not look like challenging for the title.

They have struggled against the top teams, including Victory and Western Sydney Wanderers, and face another test against the Nix.

Coopers Stadium has hardly been a fortress either. They have lost the last two on home soil against Sydney FC and Brisbane Roar, conceding seven goals.

A leaky defence is proving to be an issue this season, with 17 already in the goals against column.

Adelaide have won the last three games against the Nix at Coopers Stadium - 2-0, 5-1 and 4-0 - and there could be goals again.

The Reds may be conceding, but they have also bagged 20 so far, and over 2.5 goals on Thursday night can be backed at 1.47.

Nix need a response

Wellington Phoenix suffered just their second defeat of the season when losing 3-1 at Sydney FC, and they will be keen to bounce back quickly.

They have shown they are capable of picking up big results away from home when beating Macarthur FC and drawing with Melbourne Victory, and now need another.

Although they have a poor record in Adelaide, they are a different side this season, and are capable of leaving with at least a point.

Kosta Barbarouses continues to be in great form in front of goal and has now scored in each of the last three games.

The forward is a big price at 3.75 to score at anytime against Adelaide, while Oskar Zawada is the hot fancy at 2.50.

Like Adelaide, Phoenix have also had no issues in front of goal, and both teams to score is available at 1.44.
