A-League: Roar back in business

Brisbane Roar have finally snapped their losing streak and will be out to achieve back-to-back wins against Macarthur FC on Thursday night.

Roar had been on a horror run of form that had seen them lose four games on the bounce, but a dramatic 3-2 win over Newcastle Jets on Sunday stopped the rot.

After Macarthur drew 3-3 with Western United, Roar are just one point and one place below them on the ladder.

All of a sudden the top six is back within touching distance and Roar are priced at 2.37 to make it, with Macarthur available at 2.10.

Both sides have a tendency to concede goals and we could be in for a high-scoring game at Suncorp.

Let’s take a look at the match-up with game day fast approaching.

Roar show great character

Brisbane Roar showed what they are made of after they came from behind to snatch a 3-2 win over Newcastle Jets on Sunday.

It has been a rough few weeks for the club but with new coach Ben Cahn at the helm, they will be hoping the tide has turned.

They looked on course for another defeat as they trailed 2-1 with eight minutes of normal time remaining, but they fired home two late goals to take all three points.

Once again Jay O’Shea proved to be a key player for Roar when bagging a brace, including the winner from the penalty spot in the 90th minute.

O’Shea knows where the back of the net is and is priced at 3.25 to score at anytime against Macarthur.

Roar do not have the greatest record against Macarthur in recent games and have not won in the last four. However three of them were away from home.

The last clash at Suncorp between the two sides finished goalless. Another 0-0 draw can be backed at 21.00.

Draw specialists Macarthur

Macarthur have failed to win in the last six games, but the last three have been draws, including a 3-3 thriller against Western United on Friday night.

They left it late once again to snatch a point with Ulises Davila completing his hat-trick in the 90th minute.

Davila should be on a high after his three goals and is priced at 3.25 to score at anytime, or 8.50 to grab the first of the game.

Conceding goals has been an issue for Macarthur, who have let in 23 so far this season, while Roar have shipped 27.

Both teams have kept a clean sheet on just two occasions this season so there is a very good chance the goals will flow on Thursday.

Over 2.5 in the game can be backed at 1.40.
