A-League: Victory and United clash on bumper Saturday

Melbourne Victory versus Adelaide United is the highlight of a bumper day of action in the A-League on Saturday afternoon.

Often referred to as the ‘Original Derby’, there is no love lost between the two sides and they will both be gunning for victory on Saturday night.

Both teams have won their opening two games, but something will have to give at AAMI Park in Matchday 3.

Elsewhere Wellington Phoenix entertain Brisbane Roar, Macarthur are at home to Western United, while Perth Glory take on Central Coast Mariners in the west.

It has been a big couple of days in the A-League following the news Melbourne City have parted company with coach Rado Vidosic and replaced him with Aurelio Vidmar.

But all eyes will now turn to the action on the pitch and Saturday looks set to be a cracker.

Wellington Phoenix and Brisbane Roar have started the season well and are both on four points following a win and a draw in the opening two games.

Roar in particular were impressive with a 3-0 home win over Sydney FC last week, while the Nox edged past Perth Glory 2-1.

These two sides fought out a 2-2 draw in this fixture last season and the same scoreline can be backed at 12.00.

Henry Hore bagged two goals for Brisbane last week and can be backed at 3.40 to score at anytime on Saturday.

Oskar Zawada opened his account for Phoenix against Perth and is 5.50 to score first.

Macarthur are another side who have started well with four points from six and will take plenty of heart from the 2-1 win at Central Coast Mariners last week.

They have failed to beat Western United in the last four games however and will be looking to put that right on Saturday.

Two of the last three games between the two sides have finished in draws. Two of them at Campbelltown Stadium both ended 2-2.

Over 2.5 goals in the game can be backed at 1.53.

Western started well with a 2-1 win at Melbourne City but came crashing back down to earth with a 5-0 loss at Western Sydney Wanderers.

The final game of the day sees Perth Glory and Central Coast Mariners looking for their first win of the season.

Glory have drawn one, lost one, while reigning premiers Central Coast have lost both.

Four of the last six games between the two sides have ended in a draw. The other two have finished 2-1 so there is nothing much between the two sides when they clash.

It could be tight again and under 2.5 goals in the game is available at 2.35.

Adam Taggart scored in Glory’s opening game of the season at HBF Park and is priced at 2.30 to strike at anytime on Saturday.
