A-League: Wanderers in need of a win

Western Sydney Wanderers go in search of a much-needed win when they entertain Western United on Friday night.

They are just three points ahead of Brisbane Roar, who sit in seventh spot on the ladder.

Coach Marko Rudan will be hopeful they can turn their season around, and they are priced at 9.00 to get their act together and go on and win the grand final.

It has been a tough season for Western, who sit bottom, but they have won two from the last four, and are capable of an upset at CommBank Stadium.

They are still 1.44 to finish the season bottom of the ladder however.

. What: Western Sydney Wanderers v Western United FC
. Where: CommBank Stadium, Sydney
. When: 18:45 (AEST), Friday 8th March 2024
. How to watch: Paramount+
. Odds: Western Sydney Wanderers 1.70, Draw 4.33, Western United FC 4.00

Wanderers need to bounce back

The Wanderers have hit a bad patch of form and have managed to win just one game in the last five to leave them hanging on to a place in the top six.

Wanderers have also failed to win in their last four home games, including a 4-1 mauling by Sydney FC in the derby last weekend.

Marko Rudan will be hoping to get a response against the team he used to manage, and a win is an absolute must.

They did pick up a 1-0 win when they travelled to Western at the end of January, and Rudan would no doubt take the same again.

There have been a few low-scoring games between these two sides in recent years, and under 2.5 goals on Friday night can be backed at 2.50.

If there are to be goals, Nicolas Milanovic looks to be in the best form following a recent brace against Adelaide United.

He can be backed at 2.37 to score a goal at anytime.

Western on the up

Western have started to pick up in the last few games and head into Friday’s clash with a 1-0 win over Perth Glory under their belts.

They have also beaten Newcastle Jets 2-0 and fought out a 2-2 draw away at Brisbane. United were also moments away from winning at Melbourne Victory, only to concede two late goals and lose.

With some new-found confidence they will be thinking they can get a result against a Wanderers side that may be down in the dumps.

Noah Botic scored the goal in the win against Glory and now has two in two games.

Botic, along with Daniel Penha, is the biggest threat for Western, and both are priced at 3.40 to score at anytime.
