The reigning champions Penrith Panthers remain the team to beat as the favourites in the Outright odds at present.
Having breezed past the New Zealand Warriors 32-6 in the first postseason outing on 9th September, the Panthers will be feeling fresh for their preliminary final with Melbourne Storm in Penrith.
That ability to have some valuable rest days should do the Panthers the world of good, as they prepare for a clash against the Storm to decide which of the two will make the Grand Final this season.
Current Outright odds - 2.70
Brisbane will also be feeling fresh as they prepare to host the New Zealand Warriors this week.
The Broncos impressed in their 26-0 win over Melbourne Storm on 8th September and again, breaks in play at this stage of the season will give them an advantage ahead of the arrival of the Warriors to Suncorp Stadium.
Brisbane will have to be wary though, against a Warriors side that have come on leaps and bounds this season.
However, with home advantage and the weekend off, the Broncos and the Panthers are the teams fancied to reach the Grand Final on 1st October.
Current Outright odds - 11.00
One of the sides looking to cause an upset and reach the Grand Final, Melbourne Storm might not be rested but they will be battle-hardened after their 18-13 win against the Sydney Roosters last time out.
Will Warbrick’s last gasp try helped Melbourne to victory at AAMI Park against a Roosters side that had been in tremendous form and might have thought they had secured a showdown with the Panthers.
Melbourne will know they will need to raise their game if they are to cause an upset in Penrith but the Storm boast some experienced heads who know what it takes to come out on top in these high-pressure games.
Current Outright odds - 11.00
The surprise package of the NRL this season, the Warriors continue to raise eyebrows as they look to cause another upset against the Broncos this week.
Newcastle Knights were no match for the Warriors, who secured a 40-10 victory on Saturday at Go Media Stadium in Auckland.
Playmaker Shaun Johnson continues to pull the strings and the former New Zealand international will need to produce another big performance if the Kiwi outfit are to cause an upset at Suncorp Stadium.
It’s been an intriguing postseason so far and much more drama can be expected this week in the battle to reach the Grand Final next month.
