Carlton v Collingwood: AFL Friday preview

Carlton and Collingwood renew hostilities at the MCG on Friday night, with the Blues in desperate need of four points.

Carlton have lost their last two AFL games on the bounce and their chances of making the top eight are hanging by a thread.

The pressure on coach Michael Voss has reached boiling point, but for now he remains at the helm although he is in desperate need of a boost.

Four points against arch rivals Collingwood would do the trick, but they have failed to beat them in any of the last three meetings of these two teams.

The Pies are flying high at the top of the ladder and even when they are not at their best, they are still picking up the wins.

The MCG will be packed to the rafters on Friday night and there are always fireworks when these two Victorian powerhouses go head-to-head.

Carlton are on the slide

Carlton's season took yet another turn for the worse at the weekend when Port Adelaide thrashed them by 50 points.

It came on the back of the humiliating loss to North Melbourne and confidence must be at an all-time low.

A shock win over Collingwood could spark some life into their season and they can be backed at 8.00 to win a tight game by 1-12 points.

Starting strongly will be key and Carlton are priced at 3.25 to win the first quarter by 1-18 points.

Currently no stopping the Pies

Collingwood continue to go from strength to strength as they sit top of the ladder with 13 wins this season.

They were not at their best against West Coast on Saturday night but survived a scare to win by 29 points.

It has been a familiar story all season, even when off their game, Collingwood are still grinding out the wins.

When the two sides met in Round 4 this season, Collingwood won the game by 17 points.

They have won the last three meetings, but the other two were by three and six points respectively, so there is usually nothing in it.

On current form, however, Collingwood will looking for a convincing win and can be backed at 5.00 to win by 25-36 points.

Nick Daicos chipped in with another 34 disposals in the win over West Coast as he continue to shine in the Pies midfield.

He can be backed at 1.50 to collect 30+ disposals against Carlton.
