Collingwood will look to pile more misery on their arch rivals Carlton when the two teams clash at the MCG on Thursday night.

It does not get much bigger than the Pies versus the Blues at a packed MCG, and the game is huge for Carlton in particular.

They have already lost their three opening games and cannot afford to go 0-4 if they are to have any hope of challenging for the premiership in 2025.

Collingwood bounced back from an opening loss to win their next two and currently sit in sixth place on the ladder.

The Pies disappointed in 2024 after winning the flag the season before, but look to be back on course for the campaign ahead.

The last the last three games have been very close and it looks sure to be another tight, tense battle in the latest encounter.

For Carlton it has to be seen as a must-win clash, so the stakes are very high just four games into the new season.

Collingwood are in hot form after winning the last two games against the Western Bulldogs and Port Adelaide, to jump to sixth on the ladder.

They also had a bye last weekend so should come back refreshed and ready to continue their good run.

The Pies have come out on top in the last two meetings, but the biggest winning margin was just six points.

There is every chance it will be another close one on Thursday night, and Collingwood can be backed at 6.00 to win by 1-12 points.

Nick Daicos has been in top form once again this season, averaging almost 29 disposals a game.

The gun midfielder can be backed at 1.38 to collect 30+ disposals against the Blues, and 1.62 to kick a goal at anytime.

Collingwood have also been boosted by the news that Brody Mihocek is expected to be available for the huge showdown.

Carlton desperate for four points

Carlton have had a nightmare start to the season, which started with a shock loss against Richmond Tigers.

Defeats against Hawthorn and Western Bulldogs have followed, and they now risk slipping to a 0-4 start to the season.

In a worrying trend for Carlton, they have been overrun late in each of the three defeats. The latest being an eight-point defeat at home to the Bulldogs.

They have also averaged just 68 points in the three defeats, but Carlton say they are confident of turning things around.

It needs to start against Collingwood, and they can be backed at 6.00 to win by 1-12 points.

Despite having Charlie Curnow, it is Brodie Kemp who is the leading goalkicker this season, with seven to his name.

The key forward can be backed at 13.00 to boot the first of the game, or 1.19 to score at anytime.
