Collingwood v Port Adelaide: AFL Saturday Preview

Collingwood got the 2025 AFL season off to a torrid start and need to bounce back when they host Port Adelaide on Saturday.

After a positive pre-season, hopes were high for the Pies heading into the new season, but they came crashing down to earth against Greater Western Sydney.

Collingwood are desperate to bounce back following a disappointing 2024, which saw them miss out on finals after winning the premiership the season before.

To do that they need a win against the Power at the MCG.

2025 will be Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley’s last season in charge, and he will be desperate to go out on a high.

There would be no better way to start than a win over Collingwood, and the Power players should be fired up for a big season.

Pies eye home comforts

Collingwood put in a lacklustre performance as they lost by 52 points at Greater Western Sydney last weekend.

However, backed by a large home crowd, they should be a different proposition back on home soil at the MCG.

Collingwood won by 42 points in this fixture last season and will be out to do the same again on Saturday night.

They can be backed at 9.00 to win by 37-48 points.

The Pies will hand an AFL debut to Dan Houston, who will be keen to shine against his former club, and can be backed at 1.87 to collect 25+ disposals.

Collingwood have been handed a massive boost with the news that Nick Daicos has recovered from an ankle injury and should play.

Jeremy Howe will also play following a knee injury, but Mason Cox will miss out.

Power out to cause upset

Port Adelaide do not have a great record against Collingwood, losing the last three meetings between the two sides.

Two of those have been at the MCG, losing by 42 and 71 points, so it will take a big turnaround to get the job done on Saturday.

Losing Houston to Collingwood was a big blow, as was the injury to gun midfielder Zak Butters.

Jack Lukosius will make his debut for the Power, as will Joe Richards and Joe Berry.

Jason Horne-Francis will be a key player for Port Adelaide and he can be backed at 1.87 to collect 25+ disposals.
