Collingwood v St Kilda: AFL Saturday preview

Collingwood will look to cement their place at the top of the AFL ladder when they take on St Kilda at the MCG on Saturday.

The Pies continue to look the team that everyone has to stop this season as sit at the top of the pile, four points clear of Geelong.

Collingwood have won 11 and lost just two games this season, but have to be on guard against complacency.

They almost slipped up against Melbourne in the King’s birthday clash, and cannot take anything for granted against St Kilda.

It would still be a massive upset if Saints left with the points as they have won just five games in 2025, losing eight.

There has been nothing in the last two meetings however and Ross Lyon’s side will not be ready to roll over on Saturday night.

Pies back in action

Collingwood return to action following a week off and will be ready to carry on where they left off.

However they will look to improve on the performance they put in before the break, when they beat Melbourne a solitary point.

It was a game they were fortunate to win, and a reminder that there are no easy games in the AFL.

Indeed they lost by 15 points against St Kilda last season, and won by just six the year before that.

Even so, if all goes to plan, they should win by a more convincing margin than that in 2025.

They can be backed at 5.00 to win by 25-36 points.

It was the turn of Josh Daicos to outshine brother Nick against Essendon, when collecting 34 disposals in the game.

Josh can be backed at 2.15 to collect 30+ against St Kilda, while Nick can be backed at 2.50 to do the same.

Jamie Elliott is also on fire with the boot, and is 8.50 to kick the first goal of the game.

St Kilda out to cause boilover

It would be a huge upset if St Kilda were to knock over the Pies, and they can be backed at 9.50 to win the game by 1-12 points.

They suffered a 72-point loss against the Western Bulldogs in the last game, and somehow need to pick themselves up from that loss and go again.

Saints need to get off to a strong start to have any chance, and are priced at 3.50 to win the first quarter by 1-18 points.

Jack Higgins has been one shining light for them this season, and has proven he always has a goal in him.

The small forward can be backed at 1.25 to kick another at anytime.
