Melbourne returned to winning ways against St Kilda and need to back it up against Fremantle in Alice Springs on Sunday afternoon.
The Demons sit fourth on the ladder with a 7-4 win/loss ratio and there is work to be done if they are to repeat their grand final success of 2021.
They can be backed at 8.00 to win the 2024 grand final but cannot afford any more performances like the one that saw them lose by 35 points to West Coast Eagles.
Fremantle will take heart from the way they fought back to draw with Collingwood, and a win over Melbourne could move them back into the top eight.
The Dockers can be backed at 1.72 to make the eight and play finals, and when they are on their game, they are a match for anyone.
A trip to Alice Springs makes Sunday’s clash even more intriguing battle and we could be in for a tight one.

The Demons managed to reach 100 points for just the second time in 2024, and they will be keen to build on that against Fremantle.
With a game against Collingwood up next, it is even more important to get the four points in Alice Springs, and cement their spot in the top four.
Jacob van Rooyen booted three goals against Saints, but will miss out through injury.
Bayley Fritsch, Jack Viney and Christian Petracca all kicked two goals in the same game and will need to step up once again.
Fritsch can be backed at 8.50 to kick the first goal of the game, while Petracca is 11.00. Viney is a massive price at 34.00 to notch the first of the night.
Melbourne have been involved in some tight contests this season and it could be a close game once again.

Fremantle could have snatched the win against Collingwood last Friday night. However the manner of the fightback meant the 75-75 draw almost felt like a win anyway.
The Dockers have shown they can mix it with the top teams away from Optus Stadium this season and they have suffered just one defeat in the last five games.
They also beat the Demons by seven points at the MCG last season and will back themselves to do the same in Alice Springs.
Fremantle are also 5.50 to win by 1-12 points.
Josh Treacy kicked the first goal against Collingwood and can be backed at 12.00 to score first against Melbourne.
