AFL: Dockers set for must-win Power clash

Fremantle must beat Port Adelaide on Sunday and hope other results go their way if they are to make the top eight.

The Dockers looked on course for a place in the top two a few weeks ago, but three defeats on the spin have seen them slip out of the eight.

Now they need to beat Port and hope one of Carlton, Hawthorn or Western Bulldogs lose for them to get back in.

They can be backed at 2.60 to make it, but nothing less than a win over the Power will do.

Port Adelaide also have plenty to play for as a win at Optus Stadium will guarantee them a place in the top two and two home finals.

Ken Hinkley’s men can now be backed at 6.50 to go all the way and win the 2024 AFL grand final.

Fremantle versus Port Adelaide is the final clash of the regular season and both sides will know exactly what they need to do when they take to the pitch.

The Dockers will be praying a place in finals is in their own hands.

Must-win for Dockers

Fremantle will know by the time they take to the field whether or not they still have a chance to make finals.

They will be praying one of the Western Bulldogs, Hawthorn and Carlton slip up to give them a chance.

Even then it is still going to take a big effort to turn over a Port Adelaide side that is bang in form.

Fremantle have been hit by the loss of key players Josh Treacy, Sean Darcy and captain Alex Pearce in recent weeks.

They will be hoping for some good news on that front and the return of gun forward Treacy would be a massive boost for them.

The Dockers have lost a number of close encounters this season, which could end up costing them.

One such loss was a three-point defeat against Port in Round 5 this season.

It could be a close one once again, and Fremantle are priced at 6.00 to win by 1-12 points.

Port fighting for top two

Port Adelaide are going great guns after winning their last five games on the bounce and need just one more to secure a place in the top two.

They have a great record against the Dockers, winning the last three games against them, including a 16-point win on their last trip to Perth.

The Power can be backed at 6.50 to cement their place in the top two by winning by 13-24 points at Optus Stadium.

Zak Butters was a revelation in the win over Adelaide in The Showdown at the weekend.

He collected a massive 42 disposals and will be a key figure for the Power once again. Butters is priced at 3.50 to collect 35+ on Sunday.
