Geelong v Brisbane: AFL Friday preview

Geelong will look to continue their dominance over Brisbane at GMHBA Stadium when the two sides clash in a blockbuster on Friday night.

The Cats have beaten the Lions in the last 13 meetings at the venue, and are the hot fancies to make it 14 on the bounce.

Geelong sit second on the ladder and are flying after winning their last five games on the bounce.

Brisbane may be in third spot, but they head into the game on the back of two straight defeats, and have lost three out of the last five.

The reigning premiers will be desperate to get back on track, and there would be no better way than beating Geelong at GMHBA for the first time since 2003.

Both teams have their eye on the flag in 2025 and Friday night’s clash has the potential to be a grand final dress rehearsal.

Cats continue to purr

Geelong continue to look genuine premiership contenders and head into the game after thrashing Essendon by 95 points last weekend.

They have also knocked over Gold Coast and Western Bulldogs in recent weeks, and now have their sights on the Lions.

The Cats lost by nine points when the two sides met at the Gabba in round three this year, but GMHBA is a different kettle of fish.

Even so, it is still likely to be a tight game, and Geelong are priced at 6.00 to win the game by 1-12 points.

Jeremy Cameron continues to shine for Geelong this season and booted another six goals in the win over Essendon.

The star forward can be backed at 8.00 to kick the first or last goal of the game.

Geelong also have extra motivation as legendary midfielder Patrick Dangerfield will be making his 350th AFL appearance.

Lions look to roar back

Back-to-back defeats has left doubts over the Lions premiership defence, and they will be keen to silence the noise.

They did win by 10 points the last time they played the Cats in Melbourne, but it was at the MCG, not hoodoo venue GMHBA.

Brisbane can be backed at 6.00 to lay that ghost to rest by winning another tight game by 1-12 points.

Dayne Zorko collected 26 disposals in the loss to Greater Western Sydney, and can be backed at 1.65 to collect 25+ once again.
