Gold Coast v Sydney: AFL Sunday Preview

Gold Coast suffered their first defeat of the season last week and will be desperate to bounce back on Sunday against Sydney.

The Suns were flying high after winning the opening four games of the season, before they came crashing down to earth against Richmond.

No-one saw the defeat against the Tigers coming, and they will be keen to show it was just a blip, by seeing off the Swans.

Sydney also have a lot to prove as they sit way down the ladder in 14th spot after winning just two out of six games.

Last season’s grand final runners-up are in danger of missing out on the eight unless they can turn their season around.

Suns out to bounce back

The defeat against the Tigers was a shock to the system, but Gold Coast now have a chance to bounce back on home soil.

It has been a kind start to the season for them, but things are now set to get harder with a tough run of fixtures, starting against the Swans.

The Suns have failed to beat Sydney in the last three meetings, but this could be their best chance to snap the streak.

Damien Hardwick’s side are priced at 5.50 to beat Sydney by 13-24 points.

Ben King has been a revelation when booting 18 goals so far this season, and can be backed at 8.00 to boot the first of the game.

The same can be said of Noah Anderson who is averaging almost 31 disposals a game. The midfielder is priced at 1.87 to collect 30+ against the Swans.

Swans enjoy the Gold Coast

Sydney are a shadow of the side that won the minor premiership last season and went on to make the grand final.

The Swans have been hit hard by injuries and head into the clash on the back of back-to-back defeats against Collingwood and Port Adelaide.

They have won on the road this season when picking up a three-point win at Fremantle, and also have a great record on the Gold Coast.

Sydney have won six out of seven trips to People First Stadium so can take plenty of confidence from that.

The Swans can be backed at 6.00 to win by 1-12 points.

Chad Warner is always a big threat for the Swans and can be backed at 15.00 to kick the first goal of the game, or 1.30 to score at anytime.
