AFL: No room for GWS complacency

There is a full program of AFL to look forward to this week and that means a bumper Saturday afternoon of action with four games taking place.

Greater Wester Sydney put down a big marker last week when beating Collingwood, but there can be no room for complacency when they take on North Melbourne.

GWS can be backed at 6.00 to win the grand final, while the Kangaroos will be battling to avoid the wooden spoon.

In the other games on Saturday, Essendon begin their season at home to Hawthorn, while Geelong and St Kilda clash in a big one at GMHBA Stadium.

To wrap up the day there is action on the Gold Coast, with the Suns taking on Adelaide.

Hawthorn will be out to cause an upset and the experienced Luke Breust will have a key role to play for them.

The Giants were impressive against Collingwood last week, but they cannot afford to take the foot off the gas against the Kangaroos.

Hogan can be backed at 8.00 to boot the first goal of the game, while Daniels and Brown are both 11.00.

It could be a painful afternoon for North Melbourne, and GWS can be backed at 3.60 to win by 73+ points.

St Kilda have won two of the last three meetings, including a 39-point win on home soil in 2023.

Ross Lyon’s men can be backed at 5.50 to nick it by 1-12 points on this occasion.

Geelong have plenty of firepower that can hurt the Saints and gun forward Jeremy Cameron will be keen to get the season off to a flyer.

Cameron is 1.08 to score at anytime, or 9.50 to boot the first goal of the game.

Gold Coast began life under new coach Damien Hardwick with 39-point win over Richmond last weekend and will be going all out to pick up back-to-back wins.

Ben King was the star of the show when booting five goals against the Tigers last week and he is 10.00 to score the first goal on Saturday.

A lot of eyes will also be on Izak Rankine who left the Suns to join the Crows, and he can be backed at 1.12 to score at anytime against his former club.

Adelaide have lost in their last two trips to the Gold Coast, but are priced at 5.50 to nick the game by 1-12 points.
