AFL: Port look to kick on after the bye

Port Adelaide return from the bye and will look to continue where they left off when they take on Greater Western Sydney on Sunday.

The Power stayed in the top four despite having the week off and they can be backed at 4.00 to remain there come the end of the season.

They face a GWS side that is on the slide and hanging on to a place in the top eight by their fingertips.

In Sunday’s other game, Collingwood face a quick turnaround against North Melbourne after being in action on the King’s Birthday.

They will still fancy their chances of getting the job done, despite North Melbourne picking up their first win of 2024 last week.

The Kangaroos edged out West Coast Eagles in Perth and will be hoping the feel-good factor can help them to a shock win over the Pies at Marvel Stadium.

It took 11 rounds, but the Kangaroos are finally up and running after beating West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium last week.

They gave up a 33-point lead in the west, but showed great character to bounce back and win by nine points.

Alastair Clarkson’s men now have some momentum and can be backed at 13.00 to beat the Pies by 1-12 points.

Nick Larkey was the star of the show with five goals against the Eagles, and can be backed at 10.00 to boot the first goal of the game against the Pies.

Collingwood returned to winning ways when beating North Melbourne by 38 points on the King’s Birthday.

They still have key players missing through injury but can be backed at 5.50 to bring North Melbourne back down to earth with a 73+ points win.

Giants desperate for a win

. What: Greater Western Sydney v Port Adelaide
. Where: ENGIE Stadium, Sydney
. When: 16:00 (AEST), Sunday 16th June 2024
. How to watch: Kayo, Foxtel
. Odds: Greater Western Sydney 1.62, Port Adelaide 2.30

Greater Western Sydney’s electric start to the season now seems light years away as they continue to slide down the ladder.

The Giants have lost five out of the last seven games and now have work to do to make sure they finish in the top eight.

They have been hit by injuries but will be disappointed with the way they performed when losing by six points to Hawthorn last week.

GWS will be hoping home soil can help get them over the line, and they can be backed at 5.50 to win by 13-24 points.

Port Adelaide have won three of the past four games, but did lose on home soil to Carlton before the bye.

Two of the three wins were on the road at North Melbourne and Geelong, but they have not played at ENGIE Stadium since 2013.

It remains to be seen if the unfamiliar surroundings will play a part, but they are 5.50 to win the game by 1-12 points.
