AFL: Port out to lock in top-two spot

Port Adelaide have hit form at just the right time and another four points in the derby will boost their chances of finishing in the top two.

Port have come from nowhere to jump to second place on the ladder and will be targeting their fifth win on the bounce when they face Adelaide on Saturday night.

The pressure was on coach Ken Hinckley not that long ago, but now they have a great chance of locking in a place in the top two.

That would boost their chances of winning the grand final, and they can be backed at 9.00 to go all the way.

Adelaide may be out of the mix to make the top eight, but they have pride to play for and will look to throw a spanner in the works for Port.

They have already beaten Port once this season and will be determined to wrap up the double.

The Showdown is always intense and Saturday will be no different.

Power hit top form

Port Adelaide have hit a fine run of form at just the right time and need to keep it up with finals fast approaching.

With a trip to Perth to take on Fremantle on the horizon, the Power need to beat Adelaide to boost their chances of finishing in the top two.

Realistically they need to win both games to stay second on the AFL ladder and earn two home finals.

They had to work hard at the weekend to edge out Melbourne by just two points and a clash with the Crows will also be a big test.

However as they showed when smashing Sydney 148-36, they have the team to go deep into finals in 2024.

Their record in The Showdown is not great however and they have lost the last three encounters with their big rivals.

They will be determined to put that right on Saturday and can be backed at 5.50 to win by 13-24 points.

Charlie Dixon kicked a couple of goals in the win over Melbourne and will be out to play a key role once again.

The forward can be backed at 12.00 to kick the first goal of the game or 1.14 to score at anytime.

Crows stun Bulldogs

Adelaide may be out of finals contention, but they showed what they are capable of as they stunned the Western Bulldogs last weekend.

The Bulldogs had been flying, but the Crows put them in their place, winning by 39 points.

Darcy Fogarty was the star of the show when booting five goals in the game and he is priced at 12.00 to grab the first goal of the night.

However they have been hit by the news that Taylor Walker will miss The Showdown after he suffered a poke in the eye against the Bulldogs.

It resulted in a torn retina and he could miss the last two games.

Adelaide have won the last three games against Port, with a 30-point win being the lowest winning margin.

It would be some result if they could do the same again, and they are 13.00 to win by 25-36 points.
