St Kilda v Geelong: AFL Saturday Preview

St Kilda need to bounce back from a disappointing Round 1 defeat when they play hosts to Geelong on Saturday night.

Ross Lyon’s men slipped to a 63-point loss against Adelaide in their opener and it is important they respond against the Cats.

It will be far from easy though against a Geelong side that will be on a high after hammering Fremantle in their opening game.

The Cats are hoping to make the top four this season, so these are the kind of games they will need to win.

However they do not have a great record against the Saints at Marvel Stadium, and will have to snap a three-game losing streak.

It could be a close one, and Geelong will fancy their chances of taking it.

Marvel hopes for Saints

St Kilda will be delighted to be back at Marvel Stadium, against a team they have had the edge over on home soil.

Saints have won the last three meetings against the Cats at Marvel, the most recent being an 18-point win in Round 23 last season.

The St Kilda faithful would snap your hands off if offered the same again, as they enter the game as big underdogs.

They can be backed at 12.00 to win by 13-24 points, or 7.50 to nick a close game by 1-12 points.

Either scoreline would do for them as they look to open up their account and prevent a 0-2 start.

Despite the poor loss against the Crows, Jack Macrae managed to stand out when collecting 34 disposals at the Adelaide Oval.

Macrae can be backed at 1.50 to collect 30+ once again.

Jack Higgins also booted a couple of goals and is priced at 1.91 to kick two or more against Geelong.

Geelong off to a flyer

Geelong could not have asked for a better start as they beat Fremantle by 78 points last weekend.

The win gave them an early boost as they chase a top-four spot this season, but there can be no room for complacency against St Kilda.

They have won just one in the last three, and that was a tight one as they came out on top by just eight points at GMHBA Stadium.

Geelong will look for a more convincing win on Saturday, and with Jeremy Cameron in their side, it is possible.

The gun forward started in blistering fashion against the Dockers when booting four goals.

Cameron can be backed to carry on where he left off, and is 8.00 to boot the first goal, or 1.035 to score at any time.
