St Kilda v Western Bulldogs: AFL Thursday preview

Western Bulldogs will attempt to snap a two-game losing streak and close the gap on the top eight when they take on St Kilda at Marvel Stadium on Thursday.

The Bulldogs have slipped to ninth spot on the ladder following back-to-back losses, but are still just one win away from the eight.

Now they need to get back on track against a St Kilda side they have already beaten in convincing fashion this season.

The Saints will be desperate to bounce back from that mauling and should have some confidence after beating Melbourne in the last game.

They have also had a week off due to the bye so will be rested and fired up for what they hope will be another four points.

Saints back after the bye

St Kilda should be well rested after the bye, and will be targeting back-to-back wins when they face the Bulldogs at Marvel.

They will also be feeling good about themselves after snapping a three-game losing streak against Melbourne.

The 91-63 win will have given them a boost and another four points is the order of the day.

Saints did win this fixture by 51 points in Round 2, 2023, but have since lost the last two meetings.

Any kind of win will do in 2025 and they can be backed at 7.00 to win a close battle by 1-12 points.

Dan Butler was the man when booting four goals in the win over Melbourne, and he can be backed at 1.57 to kick another at anytime, or 21.00 to grab the first.

Callum Wilkie also caught the eye with 31 disposals and is 1.65 to collect 20+ against the Bulldogs.

Bulldogs need a lift

The Bulldogs have lost three games in the last four against teams above them on the AFL ladder.

Defeats to Gold Coast, Geelong and Hawthorn have set them back, and they need to bounce back against St Kilda.

They have won the last two against Saints, scoring well over 100 points in the process.

When the two sides met in Round 6 this year, the Bulldogs won by a mammoth 71 points, and will be out to complete the season double.

They can be backed at 13.00 to win by 73+ points this time, but 5.50 to win by 13-24 is more realistic.

Bailey Dale collected 30 disposals against the Hawks at the weekend and is 2.15 to collect 30+ on this occasion as well.
