AFL: Stakes are high Bulldogs and Giants clash

Western Bulldogs still have a chance of making the top four, but could also slip out of the top eight altogether if they lose to Greater Western Sydney and other results go against them.

The Bulldogs sit in sixth spot on the ladder, but could jump into the top four if they win and both Geelong and Brisbane slip up.

However it is also very tight below them and they are not yet guaranteed a place in the top eight.

A defeat against third-place GWS combined with victories for Carlton, Hawthorn and Fremantle, would see them miss out on finals.

It is a bizarre situation heading into the final round of matches before finals, but the Bulldogs will just be delighted to have the situation in their own hands.

Greater Western Sydney on the other hand need a victory to cement a place in the top four, while they still have a chance of top two.

It means they will be going all out for the win at Marvel Stadium and a tense, exciting clash looks to be on the cards.

Bulldogs bounce back in style

Western Bulldogs returned to winning way in style when they smashed North Melbourne by 96 points on Sunday afternoon.

It came a week after a shock defeat against Adelaide, and means their finals hopes are now back in their own hands.

Sam Darcy was the star of the show for the Bulldogs when booting a career-best seven goals against the Kangaroos.

The young gun will be keen to carry that form into the clash against the Giants.

Adam Treloar also had another outstanding game when collecting 33 disposals and the Bulldogs will need him at his best once again.

The Bulldogs can also take heart from the fact they beat Greater Western Sydney on their own patch in Round 10.

They came out on top by 27 points and can be backed at 2.00 to win by 1-39 on Sunday.

Giants bang in form

Greater Western Sydney have hit form at just the right time after winning the last five games on the bounce.

They have seen off the likes of Fremantle, Brisbane and Hawthorn in recent weeks and will hope to do the same to the Bulldogs.

A win could see them move into the top two if Fremantle also beat Port Adelaide, so there is all to play for.

The Dockers and Port clash later in the day, so the Giants could put the pressure on with a win in the early start.

Jesse Hogan is in the form of his life and could also secure the Coleman Medal on Sunday.

Hogan booted six goals in the win over Fremantle and is now 10 goals ahead of Carlton’s Charlie Curnow going into the final game.

The Giants have won just one of the last three meetings with the Bulldogs, and that was by just five points in Round 20 of the 2023 campaign.

GWS are priced at 3.00 to win this one by 1-39 points.

They are also available at 5.00 to go on and win the 2024 grand final.
