Sydney v Port Adelaide: AFL Saturday preview

Sydney and Port Adelaide will both be looking to boost their AFL top-eight hopes when they clash at the SCG on Sunday.

Both sides have just two wins to their name this season, which is way below the standards they will have set themselves.

A premiership push looks to be a long way away at the moment, but there is still time to turn things around.

There is little room for error, however, so Saturday's is a game that neither side can afford to lose.

Port Adelaide should be on a high after pulling off a surprise win over Hawthorn in Gather Round, but now need to back it up.

There is no shame in Sydney losing at Collingwood last week, but they will still need to bounce back on their home deck.

Swans suffer a slow start

Sydney have got the season off to a slow start, with both of their wins having come against sides that finished outside of the eight last season.

Their defeats have been against Collingwood, Hawthorn and Brisbane, as they have appear to be struggling to respond to their grand final heartbreak.

They did beat Port Adelaide by 36 points in last season’s preliminary final and need to find that kind of form once again.

The Swans would take any kind of win on Sunday and are priced at 5.50 to win by 13-24 points.

Hayden McLean is in good touch after booting three goals against Collingwood and will look to carry on with that form.

He is 12.00 to kick the first goal of the game or 1.13 to boot a goal at anytime.

Port looking to kick on

The Power silenced the critics with their stunning win over Hawthorn last week and need to back that up at the SCG.

On their last visit there they won by two points and before the prelim final loss they had a good record against the Swans.

They are priced at 6.00 to win Sunday’s clash by 1-12 points.

Ollie Wines is a man in form for the Power, averaging 29.4 disposals a game this season. The gun midfielder can be backed at 3.60 to collect 30+ against the Swans.

Mitch Georgiades has kicked 12 goals so far this season and is 10.00 to boot the first.
