Western Bulldogs v Brisbane: AFL Saturday Preview

Brisbane Lions will be out to make it five wins on the spin when they take on the Western Bulldogs in the Gather Round on Saturday.

The reigning premiers have started their title defence with four straight wins, and look sure to be in the mix for honours once again.

They will take on the Bulldogs at Norwood Oval in Adelaide, as the whole of the AFL heads to South Australia, but that will not bother the Lions.

Chris Fagan’s side have shown they can win anytime, anywhere, and it will be down to the Bulldogs to do a job on them.

The Bulldogs head in to the game on the back of a defeat in Fremantle, but were right in the game for long periods.

They have not been helped by a crippling injury list, but still sit 2-2 for the season so far, and are capable of giving the Lions a run for their money.

Darcy key for Bulldogs

The Bulldogs are on a streak of win one, lose one, and if it continues in that fashion this weekend, they are due a win.

They have not been helped by injuries, but still have players that can hurt the Lions, including Sam Darcy.

The talented young forward has been a huge threat so far this season as opposition defences struggle to deal with him.

Darcy booted another five goals against Fremantle and is sure to be a threat against Brisbane once again.

He can be backed at 9.00 to kick the first or last goal of the games, and is also 1.07 to kick a goal at anytime in the game.

Their last win over Brisbane was in Round 3 of the 2023 season, and was by just 14 points.

If it is to be that close again, they are 8.00 to win by 13-24 on this occasion.

Lions on the prowl

Brisbane have already set the tone for the season, winning four on the bounce, and are the hot fancies to make it five.

However two of the wins have been against struggling Richmond and West Coast, and they will be in for a bigger test in Adelaide.

They have won two of the last three games against the Bulldogs, and are 6.00 to win by 25-36 points.

If they beat the Bulldogs, it will be their first 5-0 start to a season, so there is added incentive for the Lions players to write their name into the club’s history books.

Josh Dunkley continues to be in top form and is averaging 26.5 disposals a game so far this campaign.

The gun midfielder can be backed at 1.28 to collect 25+ disposals and keeping the good form going on Saturday.
