Western Bulldogs v Collingwood: AFL Friday Preview

Collingwood got the 2025 AFL season up and running last weekend and need to back it up when they travel to take on the Western Bulldogs.

The Pies suffered a heavy defeat against Greater Western Sydney in the Opening Round, but delivered the perfect response the week after.

A convincing win over Port Adelaide will have put them in good spirits ahead of the clash with the Bulldogs at the MCG.

Western Bulldogs were less convincing, just edging past North Melbourne, but a win is a win and they too can take positives from it.

Luke Beveridge’s side can also take heart from the fact they have beaten Collingwood in two of the last three meetings.

There has been little to separate the two sides in the last two games, and we could be in for another tight game on Friday night.

Bulldogs begin with a win

It may have not been too convincing, but the Bulldogs began their season with a 113-97 win over North Melbourne in Round 1.

Laitham Vandermeer and Aaron Naughton both booted three goals each in the win and the latter can be backed at 11.00 to kick the first on Friday night.

Ed Richards also starred in midfielder with 30 disposals and is 3.60 to collect 30+ against the Magpies.

The Bulldogs have concerns over Luke Cleary after the defender suffered a serious head knock against the Roos.

Thankfully the player is okay, but under concussion protocols, will miss Friday’s game.

Pies prove doubters wrong

Collingwood came in for heavy criticism after losing by 52 points against Greater Western Sydney in the Opening Round.

Labelled too old and too slow by some, Collingwood hit back to smash Port Adelaide by a mammoth 91 points at the MCG.

Tim Membrey was one of the stars of the show as he booted four goals. He can be backed at 11.00 to kick the first or 1.15 to score at anytime.

Brody Mihocek and Daniel McStay also chipped in with three each and will be a big threat to the Bulldogs once again.

Collingwood have lost two of the last three games against the Bulldogs. However the last time they were the away team in Round 17, 2023, they won by 12 points.

On Friday they can be backed at 6.00 to win by 1-12 points once again.
