AFL: Wounded dogs out to bounce back

Western Bulldogs will get the chance to bounce back from a home defeat to Brisbane when they entertain Fremantle on Saturday.

The Bulldogs are in the hunt to play finals and can be backed at 2.60 to make the top eight come the end of the season.

But they do need to find some consistency and a win over the Dockers at Marvel Stadium is a must.

Fremantle will have something to say about that. The men from the west smashed Melbourne by 92 points before the bye and will look to kick on from that win.

Justin Longmuir’s men sit seventh on the ladder but are just two points behind Essendon in third spot.

Fremantle can be backed at 4.00 to get on a roll and finish the 2024 season in the top four.

Bulldogs look to bounce back

The Bulldogs will be disappointed with a 42-point defeat on home soil to Brisbane last week, and will be keen to bounce back quickly.

Just a week earlier they had beaten Collingwood by 18 points, which shows just how inconsistent the Bulldogs can be this season.

They are not being helped by injuries but still have the resources to get a result against Fremantle and stay in finals contention.

Skipper Marcus Bontempelli will be a closely watched man once again and there has been talk of Fremantle employing a tag to try and keep him in check.

Bontempelli booted three goals in the defeat to Brisbane and is priced at 13.00 to boot the first of the game on Saturday.

The Bulldogs won this fixture by 29 points last season and can be backed at 7.00 to win by 25-36 points on this occasion.

Dockers look to do double

Fremantle have already beaten the Bulldogs this season and will be out to do the double.

The Dockers ran out 24-point winners at Optus Stadium in round seven, but a trip to Marvel will be a tougher test.

However they had no issues when leaving the west to take on Melbourne in Alice Springs before the bye, and will be high on confidence.

Fremantle may have struggled to boot goals at times this season, but manage to pile on 22 goals in the 92-point win over the Demons.

It is a sign that the Dockers are starting to gel and they can be backed at 5.50 to win by 1-12 points on Saturday.

Jye Amiss also found his kicking boots against the Demons when booting four.

The talented forward is priced at 12.00 to boot the first goal of the game or 1.16 to score at anytime.
