Professional career so far

In the early part of his career Edmondson made a name for himself on the track and was part of the Australian team that competed at the 2012 Olympics in London.

But it was in 2014 when he started to pick up the big results, winning the Individual Pursuit and Team Pursuit at the UCI World Championships.

Later that year he also won the gold medal in the Team Pursuit at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Edmondson also picked up the silver medal in the Individual Pursuit.

Success continued to come on the track at the National and World Championships, before he finally won a medal at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics in 2016.

Edmondson was part of the Australian Track Cycling team that picked up the silver medal in the Team Pursuit.

It was only going to be a matter of time before Edmondson made the move to road cycling and the UCI World Tour.

Australian team Orica-GreenEDGE snapped him up in 2016 and he remained with them until 2022.

Edmondson had shown his potential in 2015 when winning Ronde Van Vlaanderen Beloften, which is the under-23 version of Tour of Flanders.

The Aussie continued to enjoy some success in the one-day races, and picked up his first professional win in 2018, coming first in the road race at the National Championships.

In 2019 he was part of the GreenEDGE team that won the Team Time Trial in Stage 1 of Tirreno-Adriatico.

Edmondson made the switch to Team-DSM in 2023 and came fourth overall at the ZLM Tour.

What does the future hold?

At the age of 30 there is still plenty to come from Edmondson and he will be a valuable member of Team-DSM in 2024.

Edmondson has become a solid ‘Puncheur’ on the road and is capable of more success in the one-day races and spring classics.

He was also part of the DSM team that raced at the 2023 Tour de France, working as a domestique for the team leaders.

Edmondson has also raced at the Giro d’Italia and Vuelta a Espana in the past, so there is a good chance he could be heading to one of the grand tours in 2024.
