Aussie Rules: Swans target three in a row

Sydney Swans will be looking to continue their recent revival by picking up their third win on the bounce against St Kilda on Thursday night.

Both the Swans and Saints sat out round 12 so should be refreshed and ready to go when they clash at the SCG in the opening game of the week.

The break may have come at the wrong time for the Swans following back-to-back wins, while St Kilda have been up and down like a yo-yo in recent weeks.

We are already at the halfway point of the regular season and both of these sides have plenty to play for over the remainder of the campaign.

The clash in Sydney is a close one to call and the Swans will be hoping that home advantage helps to get them over the line.

Swans find some form

The Swans had been on a horror run of form when winning just one game in seven, but have bounced back well in the last couple of games.

They scraped to a narrow three-point win over North Melbourne and that seemed to give them a lift as they beat Carlton by 26 points in the next game.

Coach John Longmire would have preferred the games to continue, but at least they will have had time to rest-up recover and get ready to go again.

Sydney have won the last two games against St Kilda, including a 51-point win at the SCG this time last year. Their form at the iconic venue has not been great however in 2023.

Before the win over Carlton they had lost the previous three games at the SCG. Fremantle, GWS and Port Adelaide all left with the points so it has hardly been a fortress for the Swans.

The Swans will again look to Tom Papley and Lance Franklin to do the damage and they are priced at 1.11 and 1.13 respectively, to score at anytime during the game.

Saints struggle for consistency

St Kilda’s run of win one, lose one, continues to haunt them as they battle to stay in touch with the top four on the AFL ladder.

They sit in fifth place, just one win behind Brisbane in fourth, but their form over the last month or so has let them down.

The 10-point defeat against Hawthorn on home soil in the last game will have been a shock to the system and they need to respond at the SCG.

Saints made the trip to Sydney on 21st May and left with a 12-point win over GWS. A similar result would go down very nicely for Ross Lyon and his players and they are priced at 5.50 to win by 1-12 points on Thursday night.

St Kilda have won four games on the road this season so should take plenty of heart from that form heading into the game.

Small forward Jack Higgins will again be one of the players to watch for the Saints having booted 22 goals this season, while he has also been averaging 6.5 score involvements a game. He is priced at 9.50 to kick the first goal of the game.

Jack Sinclair is also impressing when averaging 27.6 disposals a game this season and is priced at 1.50 to produce 25+ against Sydney.
