The British & Irish Lions tour of Australia is edging closer, as these sides prepare to cross swords for the first time in 2013.
It looks set to be another iconic Test series between the Lions and the Wallabies and here are the latest outright odds to see who will be the winners come the end of the three-match series.
After what was a difficult 2024 Rugby Championship for new Australia head coach Joe Schmidt, there were signs on the Wallabies’ European tour that the team are moving in the right direction.
A memorable last-gasp win over England was followed by a comprehensive win over the Welsh, while lessons will have been learned from the defeats to both Scotland and Ireland.
While Schmidt’s long-term future with the Wallabies is uncertain ahead of the 2027 World Cup in Australia, the New Zealander is currently contracted to be in charge for the Lions series.
The last Test series between the Wallabies and the Lions was an iconic battle, with the Lions eventually coming out on top 2-1.
The first clash in Brisbane ended in a narrow 23-21 win for the Lions, while it was Australia who edged the second in Melbourne 16-15.
On to Sydney for the decider and the dam burst as the Lions cruised to a 41-16 victory at Stadium Australia.
It’s been 12 years since that tour and Australia have been through some tough times since that loss to the Lions.
Despite being on home soil, the Wallabies are 2.62 underdogs to win the 2025 Lions series, while the draw is currently available at 26.00.
Moving on from Warren Gatland, Andy Farrell is the man who has been charged with leading the Lions to Australia this year.
Taking a break from his duties with Ireland, Farrell is currently keeping a close eye on all matches in the 2025 Six Nations to help him decide his Lions squad.
Ireland have been the dominant force under Farrell’s leadership in recent years and plenty of Irish stars are expected to make the squad.
Scotland have improved significantly since the last Australia tour in 2013, in which only three Scots were initially selected for the squad.
Expect more Scottish players on the tour this time around, while there are likely to be a handful of English stars to make the cut after some inconsistent years in the Six Nations.
Welsh players dominated the 2012 Lions squad but in a complete role reversal, it’s hard to see more than a few Welshmen making the tour this year.
The Lions are 1.50 to win the 2025 series and make it back-to-back successes in Australia.
