Australia v India Test Series: Dates, venues, TV coverage & previous meetings

Australia will be out to reclaim the Border-Gavaskar Trophy from India when the two sides go head-to-head in the five-match Test series.

Cricket Australia have announced a bumper schedule for the Australian summer that will also include a number of One Day International and T20 International fixtures.

However, the highlight of the summer for many will be the return of India to Australia for what is sure to be an epic battle.

India have dominated the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for a decade and Australia will be desperate to win it back while on home soil.

Here is everything you need to know about the Australia v India Test series.

Dates and venues

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy will begin in November with the first of five Tests set to take place at Optus Stadium in Perth, Western Australia.

The first Test is scheduled to start on Friday 22nd November and could run through to Tuesday 26th November.

Both teams will then head to South Australia for the second Test which will be played at the Adelaide Oval from Friday 6th December to Tuesday 10th December.

It is a very quick turnaround before the third Test is played at the Gabba in Brisbane.

The first day of play is scheduled to start on Saturday 14th December and could run until Friday 18th December.

Next up is the traditional Boxing Day Test which takes place each year at the iconic MCG in Melbourne.

It will be the fourth Test out of five, and if it goes the whole five days, will conclude on Monday 30th December.

The Border-Gavaskar series will be completed in January when Australia and India head to the SCG in Sydney for the final Test.

The Test match will begin on Friday 3rd January and could run until Tuesday 7th January.

Australia versus India how to watch

Australian cricket fans will be able to watch the Border-Gavaskar Trophy free-to-air via Channel 7.

The coverage will vary between Channel 7 and 7mate.

Subscribers to Fox Sports and Kayo will also be able to watch all the action live.

Previous meetings

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy was first played for in 1996/1997 with India winning the first edition.

Since then, India have gone on to dominate the Trophy, winning the series on 10 occasions out of 16.

Australia have won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy on five occasions, while one series ended in a draw.

Out of the 56 Test matches played during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, India have won 24, Australia 20, while two have been drawn.

Australia last won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2014/15 when winning the series 2-0 on home soil.

India have since dominated and have won on their last two visits to Australia 2-1, the last being in 2020/21.

It was the same result in 2022/23 when India won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2-1 on home soil.
