There are two meetings on Tuesday with both Kilmore and Goulburn scheduled to hold racing action.
Flashbang @ 6.50
Bode Akuna @ 5.50
Super Sunny Seeya @ 3.80
A soft 5 track is expected at Kilmore with the sixth race of the day a 1462m Benchmark 64 handicap contest.
Lindsey Smith saddles Write Your Own here, with the gelding arriving on the back of a sixth over 1733m at Geelong last month.
The four-year-old was beaten just over three-and-a-half-lengths when contesting a Benchmark 64 handicap on that occasion.
This son of Wrote faded in the closing stages, having raced close to the speed that day and he is better judged on his Warrnambool second over 1400m prior.
The gelding was ridden from off the pace at Warrnambool and, while he holds obvious claims in this event, preference is for FLASHBANG.
This pick hails from the in-form Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young stable and he has demonstrated improvement with racing this prep.
The four-year-old returned to action with a mid-division finish when sixth in a Restricted 64 handicap held on a good 3 surface.
Flashbang encountered similar underfoot conditions when delivering a solid fifth place finish over 1300m at Cranbourne on his second start back.
The gelding jumped at $19 and followed that effort up by breaking through for his first win this prep when taking out a 1454m Benchmark 58 handicap here just under two weeks later.
John Allen, on board here last time, is again set to ride with the pair looking capable of following up jumping from barrier nine.
A heavy 9 surface is expected at Goulburn, with the fourth race of the day a 1000m Benchmark 66 handicap.
Tash Burleigh is set to be represented by Plaza here, with the filly having recorded her second career win when winning on a soft 6 track at Moruya on her penultimate start.
The filly won by just under a length on that occasion and she backed that effort up with a fifth when stepped up to 1100m for a Bathurst Benchmark 66 handicap held on a good 3 track two weeks later.
While the four-year-old has won on a soft 7 track in the past, she has yet to encounter the forecast heavy 8 and, while likely to handle the going, it can pay to look elsewhere.
BODE AKUNA has won twice this prep, with both of those victories coming at this venue including by a narrow margin in a similar race to this here last time.
This four-year-old got home by a narrow margin on that occasion, having previously demonstrated he handles wet conditions when a close second on a heavy 9 surface at Nowra just under a month ago.
The form of that latest effort is working out well, with the second and sixth both going on to register subsequent victories.
Heavelon Van Der Hoven, on board for both of those efforts, is again set to ride here with his mount’s previous course win having come in a maiden over this distance in December.
Jason Coyle’s gelding is one of the few in this field who are proven in heavy conditions and he is taken to record the third win of his career.
The sixth race on the Goulburn card is a 1300m Benchmark 58 handicap.
Rob Wellington’s SUPER SUNNY SEEYA is the selection to register a win here, having demonstrated a liking for testing conditions in the past.
Super Sunny Seeya won by just under half-a-length when contesting a 1000m Benchmark 58 handicap held on a heavy 10 surface at Albury in July last year.
The gelding went on to finish third in similar conditions when racing at Benchmark 66 level at the same venue two starts later.
Notably, all of the selection’s efforts this time around have come on good going, including when narrowly beaten over 1200m at Wagga last month.
The son of Rubick raced at Benchmark 58 level that day and, tackling a similar contest here, he looks up to returning to winning ways with Nick Souquet set to ride.
