True To Form @ 4.60
Bullet Wing @ 4.40
The penultimate contest on the Caulfield Heath card is a 1200m Benchmark 64 handicap expected to take place on a good 4 track.
James Cummings is set to send out Steel Move here, with his gelding expected to have his supporters on just his third career start.
The son of Blue Point debuted with a good third when beaten half-a-length in a 1000m maiden at Pakenham at the end of February.
This gelding went on to break his maiden at the second attempt when stepped up to this distance at the same venue a month later.
Steel Move holds strong claims in this field, however, preference is for fellow twice-raced maiden winner CHARMING NIC.
The gelding debuted with a solid fifth-place finish when beaten just over four lengths in a 1300m maiden held on the Hillside track at Sandown in February.
Charming Nic jumped at $12 that day and went off significantly shorter when odds-on for a 1300m Swan Hill maiden subsequently.
Tony & Calvin McEvoy’s representative raced on the pace prior to drawing seven lengths clear of his rivals with both of those efforts coming on a good 4 surface.
The son of Nicconi has been freshened since that success and barrier eight shouldn’t pose any issues in this contest.
They are also set to race at Warwick Farm with the fifth race of the day a 1200m Benchmark 72 handicap.
A good 4 track is expected for the 11-runner contest with Media World likely to jump as favourite dropping in grade.
Peter Snowden’s colt showed good form last prep, including when finishing in a couple of Group 3 contests at Rosehill at the start of this season.
The son of Written Tycoon was spelled following a sixth-place finish in a 1400m Listed event at Flemington in November and he rates highly in this event.
USA-bred gelding TRUE TO FORM is preferred on this occasion however, having won two of his four starts since transferring from Europe.
The son of War Front’s most recent victory saw him come home nearly a length clear of his rivals in a 1300m Benchmark 64 handicap at Hawkesbury in August.
While unable to win in two subsequent outings, the five-year-old performed well on each occasion including when fourth in a similar race to this over 1400m in October.
True To Form has gone well for an apprentice rider in the past, with Molly Bourke having been on board for three of his four starts last prep and Anna Roper’s three-kilogram claim is a positive here.
Ciaron Maher’s representative goes well fresh and, having performed well at this level in the past, he is taken to make his first start in 2025 a winning one.
A good 4 track is expected at Balaklava with the penultimate race on an eight-race card a 1400m Benchmark 62 handicap.
Aaron Bain & Ned Taylor are represented by BULLET WING here, with the gelding having finished runner-up in three of his last four starts.
This son of Bull Point’s most recent effort saw him lose out by a narrow margin when contesting a 1550m event on the parks course at Morphettville just over a month ago.
The six-year-old should have no issue dropping back to 1400m, with all three of his previous victories having come over this distance.
While she has failed to score in two previous efforts on board Bullet Wing, Taylor Johnstone boasts a 25% strike-rate (5/20) for the Bain & Taylor team and she can improve on that with a win here.
