Australian Racing: Dreaming Of Vegas to put on a show

There’s three meetings set to take place on Tuesday with Pakenham in Victoria due to race on their synthetic surface plus turf meetings in New South Wales from Nowra and Lismore.

Race 6 Lismore

Stoinka @ 3.80

Race 3 Nowra

Dreaming Of Vegas @ 5.00

Race 7 Nowra

Fameux @ 2.70

Stoinka to score

The sixth race at Lismore is an interesting 1300m Benchmark 58 handicap contest.

A soft 5 track is expected with Franklin Corners likely to have his supporters off top weight following a victory over this track and trip on 26th May.

The gelding racing just behind the speed on that occasion and while he has similar underfoot conditions here it’s notable that he has a wide draw to overcome if he is to complete a double.

With that in mind preference is for STOINKA who has shown solid form at this venue in the past including when half-a-length second in a Class 3 handicap here last month.

That effort came over 1410m on a soft 5 surface and Daniel Bowen’s gelding is a versatile type with regards to underfoot conditions.

Stoinka should have no issues with the shorter distance he tackles here having run well at the trip in the past and with a decent alley seven off the rail he is taken to deliver his third career success.

Vegas for sprint success

The third race at Nowra is a notable Class 2 1000m handicap with a good 4 track forecast for the sprint contest.

DREAMING OF VEGAS takes the eye in this contest having won two of his three starts this time around.

Trained by Rob Potter the colt delivered a near three-quarters-of-a-length victory in a 1000m event on a soft 5 surface at Sapphire Coast earlier this month.

The selection picked up nicely having raced in mid-division to deliver a comfortable victory on that occasion having been outsprinted when third at Canberra prior.

The quicker going forecast on this occasion shouldn’t pose any problems with the pick having performed well when runner-up over 1000m on a good 4 track back in December.

The progressive colt remains open to improvement and with a good alley three off the rail looks capable of scoring under Louise Day.

Fameux to break maiden

The concluding race on the Nowra card is a competitive looking 1000m maiden plate with Vancouver’s Crown expected to prove popular following two third placed finishes this time around.

A good 4 track is expected here with that unlikely to inconvenience having finished third in a 1300m contest at Kembla Grange back in January.

The son of Vancouver has raced on soft going in both starts this time around including when beaten less than a length over 1100m at Gosford earlier this month.

Trained by Jason Coyle Vancouver’s Crown is a versatile sort tactics wise but is expected to find FAMEUX too strong for the Annabel Neasham stable.

The selection gained plenty of experience in barrier trials last year prior to delivering a two length fifth having tried to make all over 1100m at Canterbury in early January.

That Canterbury effort came on a heavy track and on the back of that he was thought good enough to contest the Group 3 Fujitsu General Canonbury Stakes at Rosehill later that month.

Spelled following that effort the colt returned with a third in a small field 900m affair at Muswellbrook and he is taken to deliver a victory at the fourth attempt.
