Australian Racing: Eden charge set to shine at Moe

There are three meetings set to take place on Tuesday including at Moe, where an eight-race card is scheduled.

They also race at Bordertown and Cairns.

Race 7 Moe

Ten Downing Street @ 4.60

Race 4 Bordertown

Emerald Reward @ 2.90

Race 7 Cairns

My Artie @ 3.20

Street ready to salute at Moe

The penultimate race at Moe is a 2082m Benchmark 58 handicap set to take place on a good 4 track.

Trainer Julius Sandhu is set to saddle Ruada here, with the gelding having performed well when losing out by a narrow margin over 2025m at Mornington on his penultimate start.

The four-year-old came close to recording his second win of the season that day, having delivered a length victory over 1600m at Cranbourne in early September.

Craig Newitt’s mount has shown his best form when racing from the front and, with that in mind, he looks opposable jumping from a wide barrier following a sixth back at Mornington recently.

TEN DOWNING STREET is set to jump from the opposite side of the track and he was freshened prior to delivering a victory in a 1600m Benchmark 58 handicap at Bairnsdale last month.

The gelding raced behind the speed on that occasion and he should have no issues with the extra distance here having finished runner-up over 2008m subsequently.

That latest effort saw the 4.60 five-year-old beaten one-and-a-half-lengths when contesting a Trophy event held on a good 4 track at Woolamai.

Trained by Shea Eden, the son of Churchill is a course winner having broken through for his first victory when contesting a 1600m maiden held on a soft 5 track here in May.

Joe Bowditch, on board at Bairnsdale, takes the ride here and his mount looks up to recording his third win of the year.

Emerald to shine at Bordertown

The fourth race at Bordertown is an interesting 1200m Class 1 handicap expected to be staged on a good 4 surface.

First Return broke through for his first victory when saluting in a 1200m maiden held on a heavy 8 track at Horsham in August.

The three-year-old went on to finish third in a Class 1 handicap over the same distance at Mount Gambier the following month.

Regular rider Kate Walters, on board for both of those efforts and set to ride here, was again in the saddle when the youngster could finish only fifth upped to 1413m at Mount Gambier subsequently.

The son of Foxwedge has been given a break since that October effort and holds obvious claims in this field.

Top weight EMERALD REWARD is the pick here, however, having confirmed the promise he showed last season when breaking through for his first victory at Mount Gambier last month.

The gelding was racing first up when coming home over three lengths clear of his rivals in a 1200m maiden held on a good 4 track that day.

Barry Carraill’s four-year-old confirmed that he can compete against winners when beaten less than a length into third at Naracoorte at the end of last month.

The 2.90 selection contested a Benchmark 68 handicap held on a soft 6 track that day and he has a good barrier returning to a forecast sound surface.

Stacey Metcalfe, on board at Mount Gambier, returns to the saddle here and her ride is taken to triumph.

Cairns win on the card for My Artie

Trainer Alwyn Bailey boasts a 36% strike-rate (8/22) in the last 30 days and is set to saddle MY ARTIE in the finale at Cairns.

The race in question is a 1250m Benchmark 58 handicap expected to be held on a soft 6 track.

The pick lost out by two lengths when finishing fourth in a 1200m Benchmark 55 handicap at Townsville in October.

The 3.20 gelding was freshened following that effort and has finished in the first three in both subsequent starts.

The first of those saw him beaten just over a length when competing in a 1200m Restricted 58 handicap back at Townsville.

The son of Flying Artie followed that effort up with a close second in a four-runner 1000m handicap held on a heavy 8 track at Atherton earlier this month.

Nathan Day takes the ride here and he looks capable of overcoming barrier nine to help My Artie to his fourth career win.
