There are six meetings on the schedule for punters to get involved with on Sunday, including at Hobart, where the 2025 Summer Cup is set to take centre stage.
They also race at Benalla, Cowra, Mornington, Mount Barker and Port Macquarie.
Kaliuwaa Falls @ 5.50
Final Siren @ 3.60
Genrichero @ 4.20
The previously mentioned Summer Cup at Hobart comes up as the penultimate race on an eight-race card.
A soft 5 track is expected for the race, with Ciaron Maher’s Promises Kept expected to jump as favourite having made the trip over with stablemate Strawberry Rock from the mainland.
The five-year-old showed good form at a higher level when finishing runner-up in the Group 3 JRA Cup over the Cox Plate track and trip in October.
The gelding has recorded good efforts in two of his three subsequent starts, including back at Moonee Valley when a close second over 2040m last time.
Shane Foley’s mount boasts a good barrier here, however, local runner KALIUWAA FALLS is the pick for the Imogen Miller stable.
The gelding claimed a victory when racing over 1880m on the synthetic track at Devonport in September, while he recorded his best effort since when runner-up at the same venue earlier this month.
The 5.50 selection was narrowly beaten on that occasion and he has shown good form at this venue in the past, including when successful over 1600m in April last year.
The son of Sacred Falls tackles this distance for the first time here and is taken to register a victory, with regular pilot Bulent Muhcu again set to ride.
The seventh race at Mount Barker is a 1300m Benchmark 72+ handicap, with Playing Rio expected to have his supporters having already won twice this prep.
Those two victories include a first up success over 1200m at Ascot when racing on a good 4 track in November.
The gelding then returned to winning ways when victorious over 1230m in a similar race to this at Albany two weeks ago.
Jason Whiting, on board for each of the five-year-old’s last 10 starts, is again set to ride and a big effort is expected.
FINAL SIREN is the pick in this event, with the gelding having resumed with a sixth over 1000m at Ascot last month.
The four-year-old took a step forward when one-and-a-half-lengths second in a Benchmark 72+ handicap over the same track and trip subsequently.
The extra distance he tackles here is in his favour, while the bigger field is no issue, with him having contested a four-runner event last time.
Any softening of the going would be appreciated, with the 3.60 selection having won twice on a soft track at Belmont last prep.
Lucy Fiore is a positive jockey booking in this contest, with the pick looking ready to strike when racing third up.
The finale at Mornington is a competitive looking 2050m Benchmark 64 handicap set to take place on a good 4 track.
Matt Laurie looks to hold strong claims of taking this, with GENRICHERO having demonstrated good form this campaign.
The four-year-old recorded a decent fourth in a similar race to this over 2000m here last month and recorded his second win when saluting at Sale next time out.
The 4.20 pick came home nearly three lengths clear of his nearest rival when contesting a 2200m Benchmark 58 handicap that day.
Dakotah Keane, on board that day and set to ride here, was again in the saddle when the selection placed second over 2445m here earlier this month.
A wide barrier shouldn’t pose too many issues in this contest and, with underfoot conditions to suit, the son of Proisir is taken to record his second success at this venue.
