Australian Racing: Jessandi chasing Tamworth triumph

There are four meetings set to take place on Thursday including at Pakenham, where an eight-race card is scheduled.

Race 3 Pakenham

Snappy Tycoon @ 6.50

Race 6 Tamworth

Jessandi @ 8.50

Race 6 Pinjarra Scarpside

Infuriated @ 2.20

Snappy to salute at Pakenham

The third race of the day at Pakenham is a 1000m Restricted 64 handicap set to take place on a good 4 track.

John McCardle is set to saddle Viasain here, with his gelding having registered a win on the synthetic track at Ballarat in August.

The gelding went on to place third over 1300m when racing in the city at Sandown the following month, prior to a sixth of seven in Listed company at Flemington.

That Flemington effort in September came over 1400m and the gelding drops in grade on his return from a spell.

While Jamie Mott’s mount rates highly in this field, preference is for SNAPPY TYCOON for the Danielle Chapman team.

The five-year-old has been in good form in recent months, registering top-two finishes in each of his last five starts.

Those starts included a narrow defeat when contesting an 1100m Benchmark 58 handicap at Ararat four starts back.

Snappy Tycoon went on to break through for his first third career win, when successful by just under half-a-length over 1100m at Kerang on his penultimate start.

The pick raced at Restricted 64 level that day and he arrives here on the back of a second in a Restricted 62 handicap over this course and distance earlier this month.

Jason Maskiell knows his mount well and the pair are taken to register their second win together.

Jess for Tamworth glory

The sixth at Tamworth is a 1600m Benchmark 82 handicap which is expected to see Rematch jump as favourite.

Trained by Paul Messara & Leah Gavranich, the five-year-old showed good form last prep, including when winning a metro event at Rosehill at the start of June.

The gelding won by a narrow margin when contesting a Class 3 set weights event held on a heavy 8 track that day and he made just one subsequent start that prep.

This son of Real Impact could finish only third over 1900m at Canterbury later in June when last in action and he was spelled following that effort.

While the gelding has trialled well ahead of his return to action, preference is for JESSANDI for the Mack Griffith team.

The mare came home in front in the 1600m Narromine Gold Cup held on a good 3 track at Narromine on her penultimate start.

This six-year-old has been freshened having gone on to finish one-and-a-half-lengths second in an 1800m Benchmark 64 handicap at Hawkesbury subsequently.

Mitchell Bell returns to the saddle here, having ridden the mare to finish third at Muswellbrook second up this prep and the daughter of Casino Prince is selected to record win number five.

Infuriated to score at Pinjarra

In Western Australia they race on the Scarpside course at Pinjarra, with INFURIATED set to shine in the sixth race of the day.

This race in question is a 1600m Class 3 handicap, with the pick having registered two good efforts this prep.

The first of those saw him beaten less than half-a-length when contesting a 1400m event held on a good 4 track at Bunbury.

Clint Johnston-Porter, on board that day, is back in the saddle here with the gelding having been partnered by Chris Parnham when third over 1400m at Ascot subsequently.

Barrier nine shouldn’t provide the Grant & Alana Williams representative with too many issues and he can record a victory in this contest.
