There are four meetings scheduled to take place on Monday and we have three selections covering the action at Kyneton, Goulburn and Armidale.
There are eight-race cards on offer at Goulburn and Kyneton, with seven races scheduled at Armidale and also Warwick.
Judge Kellie @ 5.00
Serial Offender @ 4.20
Enterprise Legend @ 3.50
The sixth race at Kyneton is an interesting 1112m Benchmark 58 handicap event set to take place on a soft 5 track.
Archie Alexander’s Loafer is expected to start as favourite, having delivered a first up victory last prep when contesting an 1100m maiden at Echuca.
The filly won on a soft 7 track on that occasion having debuted with a down the field effort in the Group 2 Blue Diamond Prelude at Caulfield in February.
The daughter of Hellbent has been spelled since a solid fifth over 1100m in a handicap at Caulfield in July.
The drop down from metro racing is a positive here and she rates highly from an inside barrier.
The experienced JUDGE KELLIE is preferred on this occasion, with the mare having registered her first win of the year when racing at Mornington in May.
The five-year-old came home in front when contesting a Benchmark 58 handicap over 1200m on a good 4 surface that day.
The 5.00 pick should have no issues with the softer going expected here, having placed second on a soft 7 surface at Mildura subsequently.
Trained by Patrick & Michelle Payne the mare returned to action with a one-and-a-half-length sixth over 975m at Swan Hill at the end of last month.
Tom Prebble takes the ride and he looks capable of steering the mare to victory stepping up in distance here.
The penultimate race on the Goulburn card is a 1000m Benchmark 58 handicap event.
A good 4 track is expected, with the lightly raced Magic Forest expected to prove popular for the Danielle Seib stable.
The three-year-old gained plenty of experience in trials prior to debuting with a seventh over 1000m on a soft 5 track here in May.
Spelled subsequently, the filly returned to action with a first victory over the same distance at Dubbo earlier this month.
The youngster raced on a good 4 track for the first time that day and, while she remains open to improvement, barrier 16 is a negative here.
With that draw in mind, Louise Day’s mount SERIAL OFFENDER is preferred jumping from barrier five.
The daughter of Better Than Ready placed in three consecutive starts following a seventh of eight when racing first up at Moruya in August.
The 4.20 three-year-old broke through for her first victory when contesting a six-runner 1000m maiden held on a good 4 track at Sapphire Coast last time out.
Trained by Matthew Dale she came home three lengths clear of her rivals in the style of a filly who would have no issues competing against winners.
While the selection tackles a more competitive contest here, she showed a good turn of foot last time out and is taken to complete a double.
Trainer Holly Williams is set to saddle ENTERPRISE LEGEND in the finale at Armidale.
The race in question is an 1100m Benchmark 58 handicap set to take place on a heavy 8 surface.
The five-year-old arrives here in good form, having registered some good efforts on sound surfaces of late including when winning at Bingara three starts back.
That success preceded a close second when contesting a similar race to this on her penultimate outing.
The 3.50 gelding is a previous course and distance winner, having registered a victory at Benchmark 50 level when racing on a soft 5 track here in April.
While the heavy 8 track is an unknown, the gelding has placed on a soft 7 surface in the past and acquitted himself with credit on a heavy 10 here in January.
Shannen Llewellyn takes a valuable two kilograms off the gelding’s back and the pair are taken to record a win here.
