There are three meetings for punters to get involved in on Monday, including at Horsham where an eight-race card is scheduled.
Little Sandy @ 4.40
Supreme Command @ 4.80
Make It Sweet @ 3.40
The sixth race on the Horsham card is an interesting 1100m Benchmark 58 handicap set to take place on a heavy 8 track.
Daniel Bowman’s Trustfall is expected to have his supporters, having demonstrated good form in five starts this prep.
While unable to win in those five starts, the gelding has performed well on each occasion, including when third over 1147m at Geelong on his penultimate start.
The son of Jukebox was beaten just over a length that day and he followed that up with a three-and-a-half-length second over 1000m at Terang earlier this month.
Trustfall raced at Benchmark 64 level at Terang and has encountered wet tracks in all five starts since resuming at Warrnambool at the end of April.
Preference on this occasion however is for the New Zealand-bred filly LITTLE SANDY, who is another to have performed well this prep.
The pick registered top-three finishes in maiden company in each of her four starts this time around, including when runner-up at Warracknabeal on her penultimate outing.
This Time Test filly was beaten less than a length when racing prominently over 1200m on a soft 7 track that day.
Little Sandy again encountered a wet track when breaking through for her first win when dropped to 1100m for a maiden race held on a heavy 8 surface at Warrnambool on 23rd July.
The four-year-old was quick to begin when coming home two-and-a-half-lengths clear of her rivals that day and she should have no issues dropping back in distance.
Linda Meech takes the ride here with the hoop boasting a 21.5% strike-rate (57/265) when riding for in form handler Symon Wilde and they can team up successfully here.
The fifth race at Taree is a 1255m Benchmark 66 handicap expected to take place on a soft 7 track.
Kristen Buchanan is set to saddle likely favourite Taking The Mikki, with the gelding having finished in the top five in all four starts since winning at this track in May.
The son of Mikki Isle won by over two lengths when contesting a 1250m Benchmark 58 handicap held on a heavy surface that day and he placed in a Benchmark 64 handicap next time.
This gelding came home third of five when beaten less than a length when apprentice ridden in a Scone Benchmark 58 handicap recently and rates highly in this field.
However, SUPREME COMMAND is the pick in this race, having won two of his three starts this prep.
The first of those victories saw him break his maiden by over three lengths when contesting a 1000m event on a heavy 10 track here just over six weeks ago.
While the pick failed to shine when sixth of nine over the same distance at Kempsey subsequently, he returned to form with a win when jumping at $16 at Tuncurry earlier this month.
That Tuncurry success saw the gelding contest a Class 1 handicap held over 1205m on a soft 7 track and he has performed with credit over further in the past.
The form of that Tuncurry event is working out well with the fourth and fifth home both recording wins since and the pick can complete a double under apprentice Teighan Worsnop.
Testing conditions are expected at Wagga with a heavy 8 surface forecast for their seven-race card.
The finale is a 1400m Benchmark 66 handicap with the Craig Weeding-trained MAKE IT SWEET taking the eye here.
This four-year-old demonstrated good form on a sound surface in his first prep, including when getting off the mark with a win in a 1600m maiden at Bendigo in March.
Make It Sweet was spelled following that triumph and jumped as a short-price favourite when resuming in a Class 1 handicap over 1300m at this venue just over two weeks ago.
The son of Fiorente came home just under half-a-length clear of his rivals when encountering a soft 5 track for the first time.
Runner-up that day Yam won at Albury last week and the selection is taken to register his third consecutive victory on his first start on heavy going.
