Australian Racing: Prince Of Sepang eyeing Dubbo crown

There are a number of meetings set to take place on Friday, including at Moonee Valley where an eight-race program is set to take place.

Race 7 Moonee Valley

Sparkling @ 6.50

Race 7 Moruya

Tulla Park @ 3.60

Race 8 Dubbo

Prince Of Sepang @ 3.60

Sparkling to salute at The Valley

The penultimate race on the Moonee Valley card is a 1200m Benchmark 70 handicap expected to take place on a good 4 surface.

Symon Wilde’s gelding Persian Spirit is expected to jump as favourite, with the four-year-old having resumed with a victory over 1125m at Geelong at the start of last month.

The four-year-old tracked the speed when contesting a Benchmark 64 handicap on a good 3 surface and he is expected to have underfoot conditions to suit here.

The son of Cable Bay steps up to metro level racing here however and preference is for SPARKLING for the Matt Laurie stable.

This filly demonstrated good form earlier this prep, winning her first two starts this time around, including by over a length over this distance at Cranbourne at the start of August.

Sparkling contested a Class 1 handicap that day and duly followed up when contesting a metro Benchmark 64 handicap over the same distance at Sandown later that month.

While the daughter of The Autumn Sun could finish only ninth when racing down the straight over 1100m at Flemington last month, she was keen on that occasion.

The third home at Flemington has won at this venue in the interim and jumping from barrier five, the selection looks capable of returning to winning ways.

Tulla Park to record Moruya victory

A soft 5 surface is expected at Moruya with the seventh race on their eight-race card a 1300m open handicap.

Body Bob is likely to have his supporters here, with the gelding having impressed in taking out an 800m barrier trial ahead of his return to action at Canberra last month.

The gelding could finish only fifth when contesting a 1000m event held on a good 4 surface at Canberra and the step up in distance here is in his favour.

Nick Heywood, on board that day, is again set to ride and, while his mount holds obvious claims, the in-form TULLA PARK is the pick here.

Tash Burleigh’s gelding has won three of his last five starts, including when winning by a narrow margin over 1206m at Canberra Acton three starts back.

Tulla Park followed that victory up with a good third when contesting a 1200m handicap held on a good 4 surface at Wagga just under a month ago.

The seven-year-old returned to winning ways when saluting by half-a-length dropped to 1000m for a competitive contest at Canberra just over two weeks later.

Regular pilot Pierre Boudvillain, on board for each of his last three victories, is again set to ride with the pair taken to deliver their fourth win together.

Prince of Sepang to rule at Dubbo

The finale at Dubbo is a 1000m Class 1 handicap expected to take place on a good 4 track.

Mollie Fitzgerald’s mount PRINCE OF SEPANG is taken to register a victory in the race having recorded some good efforts this prep.

Those efforts include a victory in a 1112m maiden held on a soft 5 track at Sale in May when returning from a spell.

The five-year-old recorded fourth place finishes in three of his next five starts, most recently when beaten a length over 1200m when racing on a firm 2 surface at Mendooran last month.

Prince Of Sepang followed that effort up with a good second when beaten two-and-a-half-lengths in a Class 1 handicap held over 1100m at Narromine.

The son of Sebring had a couple of his rivals here in My Turn Astern and The Mooch behind him that day and he looks up to returning to doubling his career tally.
