There are five meetings set to take place on Wednesday, including metro fixtures at both Rosehill and Eagle Farm.
Sentimental Hero @ 6.50
Captain Maverick @ 4.00
La Petite Maison @ 4.80
The most valuable race of the day takes place at Kalgoorlie’s provincial meeting with the penultimate race of the day the Listed Hannans Handicap over 1400m.
A good 4 track is expected for the race with Man Crush expected to start favourite for the Luke Fernie team.
The five-year-old registered a couple of placed efforts in similar races to this over 1200m at Belmont earlier this year, including when third in the Belmont Newmarket.
The gelding arrives here on the back of a length victory in a 1200m Benchmark 84+ handicap at the same venue last month.
Chris Parnham, on board for all four previous starts this prep, is again set to ride here, however his mount has placed just once from four outings at this distance.
With that in mind, SENTIMENTAL HERO is preferred here, with the gelding having won twice and placed second or third a further three times from seven starts over 1400m.
Peter Fernie’s representative came home in front when successful by two-and-a-half-lengths in a Benchmark 72+ handicap over 1600m at Belmont four starts back.
Two disappointing efforts at the same venue followed, prior to a good half-length third when racing over 1300m in the Tom Sayers Memorial Sprint here last month.
Lucy Fiore’s mount had Staralign one place ahead of him last time out but he looks capable of reversing that form jumping from barrier five here.
The fourth race at Rosehill is an 1800m Benchmark 72 handicap set to take place on a soft 5 surface.
Misterkipchoge will jump from next to the rail here, with the gelding looking for his first win since saluting in maiden company on the Kensington track at Randwick in January.
The four-year-old won over 1550m that day but has since proven he stays further, including when second in a 2180m handicap at Ipswich in May.
Misterkipchoge arrives here on the back of a solid fourth over 1580m in a Benchmark 72 handicap at Canterbury last month and Nash Rawiller, on board that day, retains the ride.
James McDonald steered CAPTAIN MAVERICK to victory by one-and-a-half-lengths when racing over 1800m on Randwick’s Kensington track last month.
The four-year-old lost a plate when delivering a victory in a Benchmark 72 handicap held on a good 4 surface that day.
Softer underfoot conditions should prove no issue here, with the gelding having performed well when a good fourth on a soft 5 surface at Warwick Farm on his penultimate start.
Formerly trained in Ireland, Chris Waller’s son of Free Eagle broke his maiden on a soft 6 track there in August last year and with further improvement on the cards he can complete a double.
The fourth race at Eagle Farm is a competitive looking Benchmark 65 handicap expected to take place on a soft 5 track.
LA PETITE MAISON broke through for his first victory when contesting an 1110m maiden on a good 4 track at Doomben in February.
The soft 5 track didn’t appear to be an issue when beaten less than two lengths into fifth over the same track and trip in a Benchmark 65 handicap the following month.
Tony Gollan’s gelding resumed with a good third when beaten just over half-a-length in a Restricted 62 handicap over the same course and distance two weeks ago.
Regular pilot James Orman is again set to ride here and his mount is taken to double his career tally.
