The seventh race of the day at Port Macquarie is an interesting 1512m Class 2 handicap contest.
A soft 5 track is expected for the race, with Pocket Eights expected to feature prominently in the better for trainer Gregory McFarlane.
The four-year-old is a winner already this prep, having taken out a 1412m Class 1 handicap held on a heavy track at Taree in March.
The gelding has made just two subsequent starts, with the best of those a third of five when again race on a heavy surface at Gosford at the end of last month.
The son of Impending contested a 1200m Benchmark 68 handicap that day and he rates highly in this event.
Tony Ball's ALL TOO ROSEY is preferred on this occasion, however, having recorded solid efforts in all four starts in 2025.
Those four runs have all come on heavy going, with the pick of them a good second when beaten less than a length in a Benchmark 58 handicap at Taree earlier this month.
The 5.50 pick raced over 1300m on that occasion, having finished fifth in a similar contest over 1400m at the same venue prior.
The quicker going expected for this event is no issue and, jumping from barrier eight, she is taken to provide apprentice Shae Wilkes with a winner.
A soft 6 track is expected at Wangaratta for their ten-race card, with the finale an 1170m Benchmark 64 handicap.
The Ciaron Maher-trained Alero is expected to have his supporters, having shown up well in both starts this prep.
The first of those saw him complete a double when coming home over two lengths clear of his nearest rival in a 1200m Benchmark 64 handicap.
The colt raced on the Heath course at Caulfield that day and he went on to place second over the same distance at Pakenham at the end of last month.

The 2.60 five-year-old was returning from a break when racing over this track and trip on that occasion and she is also a previous winner at metro level.
Trained by Peter Fernie, the sound surface expected here is no issue, with two of her four previous victories having come on good going.
