Australian Racing: Shadow Dane to leave rivals in the dark

There are three meetings set to take place on Tuesday with Dubbo, Emerald and Kilmore all scheduled to host racing action.

Race 7 Kilmore

Notmeanttobe @ 8.50

Race 8 Dubbo

Shadow Dane @ 5.50

Race 4 Emerald

Tricketeer @ 2.80

Notmeanttobe for Kilmore glory

The seventh race of the day at Kilmore is a 1450m Benchmark 58 handicap expected to take place on a good 4 track.

Jason Warren’s High Security is expected to have his supporters on his second start back from a spell.

The gelding ended his last prep with a solid fifth in a 1610m Restricted 58 handicap at Warracknabeal in August.

Blinkers worn that day return here, having been left off when finishing seventh in a 1200m Class 1 handicap at Mornington when returning to action last month.

High Security raced on a good 4 track at Mornington and boasts a good barrier two from the rail in this event.

The five-year-old NOTMEANTTOBE is preferred on this occasion however, with the gelding having made just four previous starts.

This son of Ready For Victory broke through for his first win when successful by over a length in a 1610m maiden held on a soft 5 track at Warracknabeal in August.

While the pick failed to shine at Bendigo later that month, he recorded a solid third of five when returning to action at Burrumbeet at the start of this month.

Notmeanttobe was beaten just over four lengths when contesting a 1350m Benchmark 64 handicap at Burrumbeet on his return to action at the start of the month.

Jody Thompson’s gelding is expected to have improved for that effort and looks up to registering a win racing on his home track for the first time.

Shadow to register Dubbo success

The finale at Dubbo is a 1400m Benchmark 58 handicap set to take place on a soft 5 track.

Ta Set Neferu is expected to feature prominently in the betting, with the filly chasing a hat-trick having won over 1308m in a Class 1 handicap at Taree last month.

The three-year-old was returning from a spell that day, having ended her last prep with a half-length maiden success over 1400m at Coffs Harbour at the start of August.

Todd Howlett’s daughter of American Pharoah has a wide barrier to overcome in this contest however and she looks opposable jumping from barrier 13.

Preference here is for SHADOW DANE, who registered a course win when coming home one-and-a-half-lengths clear of his eight rivals in a Benchmark 58 handicap on his penultimate start.

Shadow Dane raced over 1300m that day and backed that up with a solid fourth in a similar contest held over the same distance at Bathurst two weeks later.

The extra 100m the gelding tackles here is no issue, with the selection having finished a length third over this distance on a good 4 track at Orange in October.

Shayleigh Ingelse’s mount boasts a good barrier in this contest and he looks up to registering his third career win.

Tricketeer to complete double

Clinton Taylor has his horses in good form at present and his TRICKETEER is taken to deliver a victory in the fourth race of the day at Emerald.

The race in question is a 1280m Benchmark 65 handicap expected to take place on a soft 7 surface.

This four-year-old is the winner of two of his six starts this prep, including by a narrow margin when racing over 1200m in a Class 2 handicap at Mackay last month.

Tricketeer had previously finished a good half-length second in a Benchmark 62 handicap over the same track and trip with both of those efforts coming on soft 5 going.

The son of Better Than Ready should have no issues with the soft 7 track expected here and he looks up to saluting from an inside barrier.
