There are eight meetings scheduled to take place across Australia on Sunday, including at Nowra and Pinjarra.
They also race at Ashburton, Balaklava, Ballarat, Moe, Mudgee and Sunshine Coast.
Final Siren @ 5.50
Cable Express @ 10.00
Fayetta @ 3.40
The Listed Pinjarra Classic, a 1300m open handicap is the main event at Pinjarra, with the $150,000 contest set to take place as the penultimate race of the day on a good 4 track.
The five-year-old Snowdome is likely to prove popular with punters, having registered a win when racing at this level in the Cyril Flower Stakes at Ascot two weekends ago.
Neville Parnham’s gelding impressed when coming home three lengths clear of his rivals that day, having previously finished three lengths fourth in the Listed Scenic Blast at the same venue.
The gelding was registering his first victory since scoring in Group 3 company at Ascot in November 2023 when winning last time and he holds obvious claims with Brad Parnham up.
The concession of four-and-a-half kilograms in weight to FINAL SIREN is expected to prove too much, however, with the pick having demonstrated improvement with racing this prep.
The 5.50 four-year-old lost out by one-and-a-half-lengths when runner-up in a four runner 1000m Benchmark 72+ handicap at Ascot on his penultimate start.
The step up to this distance appeared to suit at Mount Barker subsequently, with the gelding delivering a two-length victory when contesting a similar event last month.
Lucy Fiore, on board last time out, is again set to ride, with her mount boasting a good barrier next to the rail.
Rebecca Wallrodt’s representative has been freshened since his most recent effort and, racing off a nice weight, he looks up to delivering a victory stepping up in grade.
The big race at Nowra is the Evergreen Turf SERA Country Championships Qualifier Plate, a 1400m Class 5 set weights event.
The feature comes up as the penultimate race on the card, with Nick Olive’s Kimberley Secrets expected to start as favourite.
The five-year-old has registered good, placed efforts in both starts this prep, including when one-and-a-half-length second over 1100m at Canterbury on her return to action.
The extra 200m was in her favour when beaten a length into second in a 1300m Benchmark 78 handicap at Randwick subsequently and, with wet conditions no issue, she holds obvious claims.
The in-form CABLE EXPRESS is preferred though, having registered two wins so far this season including in a 1600m Class 3 handicap at Randwick in October.
The 10.00 pick raced on a good 4 surface that day and was given a break following a close second in a similar contest over the same distance at Newcastle the following month.
The four-year-old returned to action with a half-length victory when dropped to 1300m for a Class 4 handicap at Goulburn, when again racing on a good 4 track.
Danielle Seib’s representative failed to shine on a heavy 9 surface on his only previous start in wet conditions, however, he has gone well in barrier trials on wet going since.
The son of Cable Bay arrives here on the back of a win in an 800m barrier trial at Goulburn earlier this month and he is taken to defy a wide barrier to complete a double.
The finale at Ballarat is an interesting 1200m Benchmark 64 handicap expected to take place on a good 4 surface.
Dan O’Sullivan is set to saddle FAYETTA here, with his filly having performed well at this Benchmark 64 level in the past including when twice placing in the top four here earlier this season.
The second of those efforts saw the four-year-old beaten just over a length into fourth when contesting a 1400m event held on a good 4 track at the start of October.
The 3.40 filly has made just one subsequent appearance, returning to action with a good second in a 1200m Benchmark 70 handicap at Sandown earlier this month.
The daughter of Mendelssohn was beaten less than a length that day and she gets on well with jockey Jaylah Kennedy.
An inside barrier is a further positive in this event, with the selection looking capable of recording her first win on turf.
