Australian Racing: Tectonic Plate can shift at Grafton

There are three meetings set to take place on Tuesday with action from Stony Creek, Grafton and Newcastle.

Race 8 Stony Creek

Innocent Enuff @ 4.00

Race 6 Grafton

Tectonic Plate @ 4.20

Race 5 Newcastle

My Riviera @ 2.30

Innocent for Stony Creek success

The finale on Stony Creek’s eight-race card is an 1100m Benchmark 58 handicap set to take place on a good 4 track.

The three-year-old Midnight Poker made the perfect start to her racing career when racing close to the speed prior to delivering a victory in a 1000m maiden at this venue last month.

The filly won by over half-a-length on a soft 5 track on that occasion with the fourth home that day Zena Boy boosting the form with a victory at Sale on Sunday.

While Alexander Rae’s representative is unproven on the forecasted going, she is less exposed than is expected to have improved for that debut experience.

However, the Logan McGill-trained INNOCENT ENUFF is preferred, dropping to country level racing having been competing at metro level since winning at Mornington in November.

That Mornington success came in a 1000m Benchmark 58 handicap, held on a good 4 surface and she has been tackling much stronger races in the intervening period.

Those efforts include a second in a 955m Benchmark 64 handicap at Moonee Valley on her next start, while she returned to The Valley for her most recent outing in a 1200m contest.

The selection contested a Benchmark 70 handicap when sixth, beaten just over four lengths in that latest outing on 27th January and, with an inside barrier, she is taken to return to winning ways.

Plate to score at Grafton

A heavy 8 track is expected at Grafton with the penultimate race on their seven-race card an 1181m Class 4 handicap contest.

Fairway Choice delivered victories in two of her three starts in his last spell and is expected to prove popular with punters.

The filly registered a victory by over half-a-length when contesting a 1420m Class 1 handicap at this venue in September.

All three of the four-year-old’s efforts in her first spell racing came on a sound surface and, while she has performed on wet tracks in barrier trials, it can prove profitable to look elsewhere here.

Daniel Bowen is set to saddle TECTONIC PLATE who has won three times from her seven starts this spell.

Two of those victories have come at Ballina, including when winning a Benchmark 74 handicap over 1000m on a soft 6 track last time out.

The heavy 8 track should prove no issue here with the pick having placed second over 1110m in a Class 3 handicap at Lismore three starts back.

The selection has shown good form over further in the past, including when taking a 1250m Benchmark 58 handicap at Ballina in November.

Kirk Matheson, on board last time out, is again in the saddle and he is taken to steer the daughter of Supido to a fourth win in 10 career starts.

Riviera to return to winning ways

The fifth race at Newcastle takes the eye, with the Paul Messara & Leah Gavranich-trained MY RIVIERA taken to double her career tally.

The filly showed ability in barrier trials prior to making her debut in a 1200m maiden held on a soft 5 track at Tamworth in December.

The four-year-old tracked the pace on that occasion, prior to delivering a narrow victory, with a number of those in behind going on to deliver victories subsequently.

While the daughter of Real Impact failed to complete a double when racing over 1450m in a Muswellbrook Class 1 handicap next time, she acquitted herself well in finishing a close second.

The selection again raced on a soft 5 track on that occasion and, while she has been allocated a wide alley here, she remains open to improvement with Aaron Bullock booked to ride.
