Willinga Freefall @ 5.00

Race 8 Cranbourne

Esecutore @ 6.50

Race 6 Ararat

Jimmy Manolo @ 3.00

Freefall for Cup success

The previously mentioned Tamworth Cup is a $200,000 1400m Quality contest set to take place as the penultimate race on their eight-race card.

Ciaron Maher sends out Gringotts here with the gelding having demonstrated good form earlier this season, including when winning over this trip at Randwick in October.

The four-year-old contested a Benchmark 78 handicap on a good 4 track that day but the softer underfoot conditions expected are no issue.

Ashley Morgan’s mount returned from a spell with a length success in a Benchmark 88 handicap over this trip at Rosehill and he holds obvious claims in this field.

WILLINGA FREEFALL is the pick here, however, having shown good form up in Brisbane earlier this prep, including when winning at Eagle Farm over 1300m in December.

The selection placed second when beaten two lengths in a Benchmark 85 handicap at the same venue two weeks later and he was freshened following that effort.

The five-year-old has shown good form in all three starts since returning, including on a soft 5 track when fourth in the Polytrack Provincial-Midway Championships Final.

That contest took place over this distance at Randwick earlier this month, with the selection beaten just over two lengths that day.

The son of Sacred Falls has a good barrier two from the rail here and looks capable of providing trainer Kris Lees with a Cup win.

Esecutore to triumph at Cranbourne

The finale at Cranbourne is a 1200m Benchmark 64 handicap expected to take place on a soft 6 track.

Jockey Jamie Kah has been in the winners of late and she is set to partner Acid Wash on his first start back from a spell.

The three-year-old showed plenty of ability in placing second in metro maiden races on his first two starts, prior to winning impressively over 1400m here in early January.

The gelding came home over five-and-a-half-lengths clear of his rivals, having jumped as a $1.30 favourite on that occasion.

The son of American Pharoah had Kah in the saddle that day and she again took the ride when the pair were second in a Moonee Valley Benchmark 70 handicap subsequently.

The youngster is expected to start a short-priced favourite here, however preference is for ESECUTORE who has the benefit of a run this prep.

The selection resumed with a good second in a 1000m Benchmark 64 handicap on a soft 5 track at this venue earlier this month.

The three-year-old was making his first start since October that day, having won twice from four starts earlier this season.

The second of those wins saw him triumph by over two lengths in a 1200m Benchmark 64 handicap on a good 4 track at Morphettville at the start of September.

Apprentice Lauren Burke takes a valuable three kilograms off the pick’s back here and her mount is selected to register a win for trainer Matt Laurie.

Jimmy for Ararat glory

Trainer Matthew Smith sends out JIMMY MANOLO in the sixth race of the day at Ararat.

This race in question is a 2206m Benchmark 58 handicap due to take place on a good 4 surface.

The gelding has delivered second-place finishes in two of his three starts this prep, including when racing over this track and trip earlier this month.

Jimmy Maolo was beaten a length when contesting a Restricted 58 handicap on a good 4 track that day.

The front pair came home over two-lengths clear of the third in that event and the pick is expected to track the early speed in this event.

Jockey Fred Kersley, on board last time out, is again in the saddle and the pair are taken to make amends for that defeat with a win.
